Anyone providing MODEL IDs to affiliates, etc. should READ THIS!(2257)

ChadKnowsLaw posted this today on another board...the models' privacy SHOULD be a priority.

'Redacted ID's and 2257'

Here is a tidbit from one of the DOJ briefs in the FSC vs. Gonzales 2257 challenge:

Plaintiffs assert that the regulations will violate the right to privacy of performers by requiring primary producers to provide personal identification information to secondary producers. Defendant previously pointed out that the constitutional right to privacy is wholly inapplicable in this context, and plaintiffs exaggerate the threat by exaggerating the number of producers that would have to be provided with this information. To avoid any potential risk to privacy, however, primary producers can simply redact information that is unnecessary to verifying a performerhahaha8217;s age from the copies that they provide to secondary producers. Unnecessary information would include a performerhahaha8217;s residential address and their day and month of birth (unless the performer is 18 as of the date of the performance)

No producer should be sending compete images of model ID's without the model's permission--look at your model release and more than likely, the model did not give permission to be sending out complete copies of the ID to anybody on the Net.
I advised all clients when the new regs were publish to only transmit redacted ID's -- blacking out the personal identifying information. Apparently, the DOJ attorneys agree with me.

Protect your models. Redact personal info on all ID's before you transmit them.

Most lawyers are only admitted to practice in 1 or 2 states.

I think that's great news that they're starting to take the models' safety seriously. Blacking out addresses, SSNs & last names would make me feel OK with handing out my own ID. This could be a huge relief for content providers.

After Shock Media 07-30-2005 04:41 PM

I will say this once more. Providers have been handing out ids and releases that are unaltered for the last 7+ years. Why is it suddenly a big deal now?
Unless of course people like to stir shit and since this could be now mandatory it became a great pile of shit to stir.
