Yahoo to Power Boeing In Flight Web Search

Yahoo has come to save the sanity of all business flyers and long distance travelers with a new deal struck between Yahoo Search Marketing and Boeing to bring relevant and useful Internet services to airline flights. Yahoo! Inc and Connexion by Boeing, today announced they have entered into a multi-year, web and sponsored search distribution agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, Yahoo! will be the exclusive search engine on the Connexion by BoeingSM in-flight Internet service, providing airline passengers with the same highly relevant, comprehensive Yahoo! search results that they have come to rely on at home and at the office.

even on a 15 hour flight??

Maureenoz 07-30-2005 03:44 AM

Who offers internet on planes? Obviously we travel with the wrong people. JAL doesn't have it in first class. We're leaving for Internext tomorrow and we'll be decidedly unconnected.

Anyone tried Emirates? I've heard they are quite upmarket.

and you know how those Yahoo users love ImLive.com?

live webcam on planes :winkwink:

adamneve 07-30-2005 08:53 AM

it's a matter of time, soon most of the airlines will have surfing from your seat for like an extra $50 a flight and then people will be queit on the planes :jerkoff

Doctor Dre 07-30-2005 09:13 AM

I think it's a good idea that they provide internet access in the planes ... business mans would loveeeee that (webmasters too)

BRISK 07-30-2005 09:37 AM

Sounds like bad news to me

Why the fuck do I want anyone else to choose an exclusive search engine for me?

People just want internet access on planes, they don't want to be forced to do all their searches through yahoo or through the "Boeing air portal"

Sounds like they're trying to make it a dumbed down version of the internet like AOL

I just want to plug in my computer and have normal net access.

Well no offense but all long distance flights I've been on has closed the shutters so people could rest without getting blinded by the sun. So that leaves you pretty much with the tv and those sweaty folks sitting next to you.

And yeah I'm a cheapo so I don't fly first class.

Spoken like someone who has only ever flown coach :glugglug

They do have first/business classes you know, you might want to try it, you'll probably like it, i know we do :winkwink:

Lee

well i've only flown within the US and hawaii, and i've never seen internet on a plane i've been on, but i'd use it, if it was in-seat (EDIT) and I was flying first class so some nosy fuck couldnt see what I was doing

Maureenoz 07-31-2005 10:01 PM

I LIED! JAL has wireless broadband and here I am!! This is so cool. I've got a 13 hour flight from Tokyo to New York and I'm icq'ing and surfing and it's very good.

I don't know if it's all over the plane, I would assume so, but it's definitely in first class. It's $30 for the entire flight.

Time for lunch!

See you all at Internext.
