It was to promote the fact that wendy's used square patties, so you could see the burger hanging out of the edge of the bun.
I also loved how everything was so disproportional in those commercials. As in that image I posted... the phone is huge, the bun is massive and the patty, as you said, is rediculously small.
They really had a winner with those commercials. I like to think of it as a predecessor to "wasssup!!"Comment
