Which pay-per-click engines do you know?
I'd like to buy some keywords in engines and pay-per-click seems like the best choice. Is there any ppc engine that you'd recommend?

stay away from overture

sex.com's ppc works pretty well for me
|
mcspike, i had nice results with jesussearch.com :glugglug

I was gonna buy some clicks from google.. everyone wants google traffic, but their sponsored listings were actually pretty reasonable..
anyone have much success with them in the past? what seems to work best? |
I'm experimenting with google's adwords to feed an avs site with a pretty specific theme. So far the results are mediocre. I would do as well by working a bit harder to get some pages with the right keywords and links to that avs, for free.
So far spent about 26$, made about $36 I estimate. My clickthru rate from the ad was about 3.75. Not interesting enough to do a lot of it... |
Kanoodle send low(ish) volume but fairly good quality and isn't anal like overture *spit*. Kanoodle are worth using for that little bit extra although they'll never make you rich.

FORGET AD WORDS on google... THEY BITE.
That's just another form of the old impression advertising and it just doesn't work too well. The adwords with the little banner to the right of real listings has less text in them to entice surfers than standard listings so often you are paying for like a standard impression and the traffic google does, even if you highly target your keywords, gives very little click for your dollar. I haven't used google adwords in quite a while, but when I did there weren't the numbers of other adwords people to compete against and I like 5-10x or more what google said was standard click % per impression, but still no real results. [I targeted exceedingly well also... *sigh*] Stop-Free-Porn: What's wrong with Overture now... I haven't used them for about 9 months,(found me a honey of a ppc... Obviously not stupid enough to say her name aloud :D) apart from Overture being very pricey these days. It also depends on exactly what niche you're marketing as to which engine will do you best. DON'T EVEN THINK OF BRAINFOX... That traffic is way fucked up and pitiful... I've still got money in that fucker that I put in with my 1st payment last year. Am in the top 1-5 listings for most adult stuff,(great descriptions) and still like no traffic... I mean Sheeeeshhhhh.... ("woof woof"... I think I just heard Brainfox making a noise... What a dog of an engine) Ppc will make you money if you get a decent engine,(includes some quality traffic) and the balance correct between what you bid and what you can convert... You bid too high YOU'LL LOSE YA MONEY... Bid too low and you may just be getting window shoppers and AGAIN, LOSE YA MONEY :) Hope you like watching & playing the stockmarket... Sometimes it's like that, with all these bids moving up and down 24/7 as other webmasters are eagily watching the bids, ready and waiting to modify theirs, yet again... So, I think PPCs are like anything else, different ones work for different people. |
Lets also look at the target you are going for,
if you buy common words like Teen, sex ,lesbian, xxx You wont do well.. If you guy a word or phrase like Porn Star Gauge, that is targeted, and the search isn't to general. I find words like Teen, Lesbian, people don't know realy what they want and it just uses all your money... Who knows, I also know of a new one that will give you like 500 free hits, Email me for details. [email protected] |
Okay I bought some on sex.com and on google. Didn't place a bid on sex.com yet but I did try google.
I will NEVER EVER again buy a pay-per-impression ads, not on google at least. Man what a waste that was. Only good thing was I wasted just $15. My campaign ended and my limit was reached within a couple of hours after starting the campaign when the estimated hits for my chosen keywords were shown to be 0 (so I thought I am MORE than safe)!! On top of all I never even saw my ad displayed on the google.com when doing a search for that keyword. Not to mention the poor click-through (0,19%) although the ad was very well targeted. I'd like to know where was my ad being shown as on google.com it sure wasn't. I thought that it takes like a couple of hours before the ad shows up so I didn't worry about that, but before I even took my time to ask them why I can't see my ad, the campaign already ended. 1039 impressions, 2 clicks, $15 thrown out the window. Their engine said I'll get 0 hits with that keywords, but I got 1k in 2 hours and never even saw the ad displayed when doing a search for that keywords. Be your own judge but this is my experience. -- McSpike -- |

Yes, after a bit more anaylsis I've stopped the google adwords campaign (thats what they call it...), it just wasn't producing, and the impressions model sucks.
anybody wanna tell goverture sucks stories? I haven't messed with my listing much lately, but I'm interested in hearing how there new 'relevancy' standards are affecting people who are trying to get new pages lisyted there. |
thanks for the info on google.. I won't use them.
