Beauty or The Beast?
Hey, I was just wondering. Im starting up my second TGP site, and I need to know one thing.
Most TGP sites seem to have rather basic design's, and don't contain very much images. What do YOU think is a better idea: High quality layout with graphics and mouseovers and other eye candy, or a basic layout (think thehun.net for a low quality design) :D Anyway, I was just curious... |
Just copy Sleazy Dream's site and make mad bling bling.
|
The reason for the lack of graphics on TGP's is to keep bandwidth low and to have the page load fast. Its not a matter of creativity, just $$$.

I'd say you need to do some research into what kind of connection your surfers have -- if the majority of them are still stuck on dialup then you'd be wasting your time trying to make something pretty.
And then again there is the ugly sells argument. |
Ok since I'm not running a TGP but did some testing I can tell you what I found out.
White background Black text blue link purple visited link As simple as possible. This layout produced the most clicks to the galleries. IF that is what you want |
you have to look at dedication.
i remember when the hun first opened his site. if i would of updated daily like him for 6 years, i would probably be as big as him now. guess what, im not by a long shot if you use all the other junk, you'll get more traffic faster. if you go thehun's route, it will take you much longer to get the traffic. but, you will have that traffic always. the hun doesnt rely on link trades. just submissions. i had a tgp 3-4 years ago with servint. then there was that big fucking snow storm or some shit and my server was offline for 4 days. when i finally got things back up my hits went from 70k a day to 25k a day until my trades started back... anyways, just my thoughts |
