To Mouseover or not?

Id put it to a fucking poll... but I hate that thing. Ill just ask the question instead.....

Been debating whether or not to use a mouse over on my TGP to cover up all of my links, so nothing appears in the status bar.
I see some guys do this and some dont.

What's your opinion and why?

Thanks
:)

nothing at all? Or do you mean just get rid of the code. I'd see get rid of the code, but see no advantage to nothing at all.

I always thought of mouse overs as a way to hide where you are sending someone. If you are not trying to trick them why bother with it?

Yeah, that's been my feeling too. I feel like the site is trying to trick me into clicking on somthing.

However, all of my out links are connected to my traffic trading script. So all links will look funky to a surfer.

I remember when I was a mere surfer, Id avoid any link that had any sort of cgi code in them, in fear that they would take me somwhere besides what the link would read "Porn Gallery One"

I just cant decide if covering up my links is going to make them think im tricking them... or is not covering up the links going to make them think im tricking them.

hmmm:uhoh

Exxotica,

Ever thought of just putting up a message saying that your site is popup free? I think this is the main concern for surfers, and as long as your honest with them I don't think they care.

I've had a mouseover on my site since it started, doesn't seem to bother people. Nobody has complained anyhow :).

Some people will use mouseover to put just the domain name that the link goes to without the cgi stuff.

Well it does throw off the user to the actual destination of the link... thereby helping you swap their click for your traffic swaps.

I always use mouseovers to hide my referral codes, just replace it with the actual url of the site I'm sending them too, my conversions have been better because of it. Some people just don't want to click on a 255 character URL, they think that is fishier than a little javascript.

Of course I've been banned by a few TGPs who don't allow mouseovers, but whatever, their loss.

Exxxotica, I do use mouseovers on just about everything. Primarily to hide sponsor codes but on my TGP's as well to kill the cgi or out coding from my trading scripts. I just replace it with the base URL of the gallery they're clicking on. I don't play the status bar game with all sorts of blinking crud...that immediately smakcs of CJ site to me.
