If a sponsor over paid you by $500, will you tell them?

:1orglaugh

hypothetical question, ofcorse. :winkwink:

Roald 07-27-2005 01:41 PM

I would tell them yes.

Ice 07-27-2005 01:41 PM

Yup I would tell them... I don't want money I didn't earn

WarChild 07-27-2005 01:42 PM

Once I switched from checks to wires and a sponsor paid me out using both methods for like 6 months. :)

BradM 07-27-2005 01:42 PM

Yes, staying honest is a good way to avoid negative karma. :)

Thrawn$ 07-27-2005 01:42 PM

you mean if his shaving script went down?

Jakke PNG 07-27-2005 01:42 PM

I've done it..and will do from now on as well.

xlogger 07-27-2005 01:42 PM

yeah right guys! You will tell?

Sly 07-27-2005 01:42 PM

Honestly I probably wouldn't even notice. But if I did notice, yes I would tell them. They would find out eventually anyway, I believe in long term relationships, and I'm honest.

Easy call.

wait....you never told them??

WiredGuy 07-27-2005 01:44 PM

Yup, I have in the past. Its a bitch when it happens too since accounting has no idea what they're paying for if it doesn't matching account receivables. It's happened to two companies now, in one case they nearly overpaid by 100%.

Of course.
If I get too much change back from the grocerystore and I notice it, I will let them know and return the excess money.

Now, if I find a wallet at the street, I return it.
If I find cash on the street, I'll spend it without thinking of course.

Dalai lama 07-27-2005 01:45 PM

I've once got $100 more then my stats said and reported it. With $500 I would do the same.

sure why not, in the end honesty will be rewarded :2 cents:

wdsguy 07-27-2005 01:47 PM

it doesn't matter. WAMU deposited an extra 300 into my acct, it was gone a few days later.

Tala 07-27-2005 01:50 PM

Yes. Karma's a bitch.

swedguy 07-27-2005 01:50 PM

Of course I would :)

wdsguy 07-27-2005 01:52 PM

ok I didn't read the title correctly

xlogger 07-27-2005 01:52 PM

Hm, i thought no one would tell.. :1orglaugh

Well, I do believe in karma. If i get overpaid $500 today. I might get robbed for $1000 next week, so i guess i will tell too.

BVF 07-27-2005 01:54 PM

yes. I would tell them...But since I don't check stats on all of my sponsors, I would probably cash it before I even bothered to check them.

Ok, well I got overpaid from a big mainstream company recently and I didn't even notice it untill a few days ago. I am still not sure if I am going to tell or not. It was in the 2K range. For some reason, they repaid a almost 8 month old invoice.

polish_aristocrat 07-27-2005 02:18 PM

u should have made this an anonymous poll ;)

Brujah 07-27-2005 02:18 PM

I'm not sure I'd even notice, if a sponsor overpaid me (or underpaid). I better pay closer attention!

I agree.

Trixxxia 07-27-2005 02:22 PM

Yes - wouldn't even give it a second thought.

Funky Bastard 07-27-2005 02:24 PM

What if it was for $100,000 and you cashed it into your bank and nobody has said anything for 6 months it's just been sitting their?

Thomas1007 07-27-2005 02:28 PM

definately
I prefer to be honest and earn my $$ and keep my respect
:2 cents: :thumbsup

woj 07-27-2005 02:35 PM

I wonder which gfyer will have the balls to tell the truth? :1orglaugh

Project-Shadow 07-27-2005 02:38 PM

Depends on if I like the sponsor or not :D

EviLGuY 07-27-2005 02:39 PM

I doubt I would notice personally.. but if I did I would say something.

Antonio 07-27-2005 03:49 PM

got 2 exactly the same checks from a sponsor (a think last year), didn't bother telling them but I only cashed the one. I mean they two different checks for the eaxctly the same amount and for the same pay period...

Chio The Pirate 07-27-2005 03:51 PM

YARGH! = Yeah

Varius 07-27-2005 03:53 PM

From a sponsor's end, this has happened before, and if an affiliate brings the mistake to light, we usually let him keep the extra for his honesty :)

Linkster 07-27-2005 04:41 PM

Im with the group that says that they wouldnt notice - it did happen about 4 years ago (actually was little more than that) and didnt even realize it until they emailed me to tell me they were withholding it from my next check :)

If I had noticed I would have told them - just as I do when their checks bounce :1orglaugh

Furious_Male 07-27-2005 04:43 PM

When they shave me for $500 I tell them so I guess I would tell them if they overpaid me.

brand0n 07-27-2005 04:43 PM

fuck no
_______

no3 07-27-2005 04:48 PM

being honest pays off ;)

VicD 07-27-2005 04:49 PM

they are not gonna do that

Manowar 07-27-2005 04:50 PM

yeah, i would

CDSmith 07-27-2005 04:51 PM

I was recently overcredited by one sponsor for $3k. I told them about it right away.

That's the way it is with me.

Period.

Whether it's $500, $3k or $100k, is your honesty worth so little that you'd keep the money?

No one I'd want to know would keep it.

fatal attraction 07-27-2005 04:53 PM

I had a sponsor over pay me $1000, I sent the extra back. Got a call from them(someone I knew) He had no idea why I sent them money, he thought I made a mistake :1orglaugh

Matt M 07-27-2005 04:56 PM

Yeah for sure. Not only would it be bad karma, but I would sure want them to make it right if they underpaid me so it is only fair.... :2 cents:

digifan 07-27-2005 05:25 PM

I will.. if if ever happens. :)

kane 07-27-2005 05:29 PM

about 4 years ago I got a check from a sponser that was too much. I should have gotten around $200 from them. They sent me a check for $20,200 I just about shit my pants. I hadn't checked my stats in a a few weeks so I thought I must have gotten the mother of all listings. when I check the stats I see that they are correct and I'm owed $200. So for a day I thought about cashing it and then sent the sponser an email. They gave me a number to call and I talked to them. It turns out they had just switched accounting companies and everything was all screwed up. so many got more than they should have and many got less than they should have. They said they had heard from all the people that got too little but that I was the only one that had contacted them about getting too much. To show their thanks they sent me a new check for the $200 I was owed and another $2K to say thanks.

Spunky 07-27-2005 05:31 PM

I would tell them ,I'm sure they would find out anyways

V_RocKs 07-27-2005 05:31 PM

Ever heard of a thing called Karma?

Well, it won't help you here.. You could get bad Karma by not telling them... But you could just be the happy beneficiary of Good Karma because your sponsor probably shaved that much over time anyway...

Brad Mitchell 07-27-2005 05:31 PM

Not correcting it would be stealing and that is wrong. No gray area there!

Brad

eroswebmaster 07-27-2005 05:32 PM

Back when I was a kid at my first job I got paid 2x's my normal weekly salary.
I notified the ofice manager and he filed the report to correct it.
It was never corrected and at the end of the year they told me not ot worry about it :)
