If you have problem with XP do this:
check to see if the manufactures of you hardware have new drivers for XP

see if your MB manufacture has a updated BIOS.

Most of the problems I've had with XP on customer machines was BIOS related

Speedy26 02-01-2002 12:38 PM

will all my win98 programs work with XP if i switch?

ldinternet 02-01-2002 12:42 PM

No.

Ludedude 02-01-2002 01:04 PM

Speedy, it depends which ones. Most will, some won't. XP has a compatibility mode that you can use for certain Win95/98/ME products but it doesn't always work. What are you running that is Win98 specific (besides games)? Also, be aware that some versions of Win98 programs WILL run on XP Home edition but not XP Pro. Don't know why since the kernel is the same, but that's a fact.

programs i have paid $ for like adobe premier, PSP, thumbnail makers, hotdog html editor, and other junk like that.

also worried about drivers. i got a new comp with ME, i hated it and tried to install 98SE but had too many problems with missing drivers. its a compaq..
