What's the format and bitrate of the videos you use on your sites?

We plan to encode all of our videos to make it preferrable for the most of paysites.

Sounds about right

Actually the main concer of mine is the resolution of vids

many sites tend to put 1:1 720*540 movies, while many still use the good old 320*240
so the additional question :upsidedow is: do you plan to improve the vids quality on your sites?

also I still meditate on whether we should code it into realmedia or quicktime

720x540, no less nowadays.

My setup.

56k | 300k | 500k | 1000k for windows media player & quicktime ( streaming )
700k or 1000k for windows media player ( downloadable section )

We give 720x576 & 320x240 wmv + 320x240 divx.

that seems like a low resoultion for that bitrate

WMV9 640x480 1000kbps
MPEG1 320x240 740kbps
WMV8 320x240 350kbps
3 formats in full scene, then I cut up the WMV9 into 5-6MB chunks for the dialup users.

WMV9 640x480 1100kbps
MPEG1 320x240 1150kbps
WMV9 320x240 256kbps
