HELP! What Greek Islands to Visit??
 

Going to greece for about 7-10 days, but still did not make up my mind on tour to take! Can anyone give a hint please..

Actually, I haven't gone to Greece, here this two cities from history...
They say, it has lots of historic culture and also about Greek gods and goddesses...

SanTorini... If you want peace stay in the city on the south shore (cant remember the name) there is a hotel on the way up to the towering cliffside to the north of the city.. you get the BEST view ever from that hotel... and you have peace at night

postwhore : crete, its the nicest imho, been there many times, lotsa fun, beautiful places, culture and friendly ppl plus its cultivated a lot more then the other smaller islands.

Planes to Heraklion leave many times a day from all major EU cities. Cheap and save, travel to hotels in less then 2 hrs, they have one other airport as well Chania (mil as well).

Santorini is amazing, you can take a boat from Crete, 4 hrs or 2 on the speedy one. Its small though, they have an airport and yes its amazing and prices are amazing too lol, most ppl there treat it like Venice, its a lovers island

For Crete : both Rethymnon and Chersonissos have a HUGE tourism, if youre looking for easy to get laid british girls they both have that, Rethymnon a bit more imho

Zakynthos is a nice little island, less crowded imo.

I've been to Kos years and years back and it was very nice, although Greece is a little too hot for my taste. Great culture though!

A good few years ago I spent 3 weeks doing this. Started in Crete, then did something like, Santorini, Paros, Naxos, Athens, back to Naxos, Kos, Rhodes and then back to Crete. All great places. We tried to get over night ferries for the longer trips where possible. Thomas Cook used to publish the Greek Island Hopping Guide but I am not sure if they do it anymore. There will be equivalents though. Just try and get this years as it will have ferry timetables etc in it.

My ex-wife just got back from 2 weeks in Europe. The only place she really enjoyed was Italy. She was in Greece for a couple days of the trip.

Crete is my favourite island plus as previously mentioned you can get the boat to Santorini (city is Fira btw). Im not so keen on Corfu despite having been there twice lol. I personally preferred the west of the island and you can try a day trip to Albania if you fancy something out of the ordinary and visit the ruins of Butrint.

If you want to get laid then all the British scum go to Kavos on Corfu and Zakynthos is up and coming for louts and slags. However if you are holidaying, pretty much anywhere should get you laid. If you are more into the cock then try Mykonos.

Corfu used to be STUNNING (been there twice), but its more like a ruin now.

As i understand i should stay awat from Mykonos, and everything else is nice. Crete got the most votes! So will check it out for sure

You kinda got it backwards there.... IA (our current hometown) is not the place to go to party. The party towns are Fira (the captital in the center of the island) and Kamari and Perissa in the south. :)

Crete was full of germans when i was there(not bad if you want to eat german food everywhere you go). My favorite island was Santorini, Fira has tons of sweet clubs and it seemed that all the hot bitches from Sweden, UK etc flocked there.

My sister was there a few years ago and said all the islands were really nice

I had a blast in Italy back in 91 I really need to go back as a civilian and check it out...

I spent most of my off duty time at the beaches not far from Aviano AB & Pordenone where I was staying...

I lived on Paros for a few months back in '93. One of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Highly recommended.

Paros is great too, but if you have allergies Paros can be a hassle... the wind is always so high there. It's not called the 'windsurfing capitol of greece' for nothing LOL
