Ok My $200 bill doesnt seem so bad now

cool1 07-27-2005 04:29 AM

During our heat wave last week if I would have had A/C my bill would probably be that high too.
But since I do not have A/C I roasted and my E. bill is only $32

reynold 07-27-2005 04:33 AM

Time to conserve electricity and to use your old lamp. lol

grumpy 07-27-2005 04:35 AM

nobody asked you to move there.

Dravyk 07-27-2005 04:39 AM

The electric companies are making a killing with this horrible weather. :(

The bills are huge, but it beats melting!

Mefo 07-27-2005 04:54 AM

485, damn that's a lot, I thought my bills were big

Gruntled 07-27-2005 05:00 AM

How much are swamp coolers these days?

Digibucks 07-27-2005 05:01 AM

WhoGivesaShit 07-27-2005 05:25 AM

looks like you are going to have to get a job.
no more 24/7 jerking off for you.
yes boss.
no boss.
you are right boss.
what ever you say boss.
why, certainly boss, I'll kiss your ass.

suesheboy 07-27-2005 06:24 AM

So I guess $150 a month in Florida is not too bad.

GFX Wiz 07-27-2005 06:29 AM

And I had the nerve to bitch about my $336 bill here in Houston in a similar thread a few days ago. I am so ashamed :firehair

363R 07-27-2005 06:33 AM

Time to go out and buy a brand new energy efficient air conditioner. It will pay itself off by the end of summer.

MandyBlake 07-27-2005 06:42 AM

ouch!
i haven't gotten mine for this month yet. i'm guessing it will be around 85.00

xclusive 07-27-2005 06:45 AM

wow that's crazy you should have an energy audit done onm your house to see where you can improve on things

vvq 07-27-2005 06:46 AM

damn big bill.

hova 07-27-2005 06:48 AM

Exactly...

My pad is in Pasadena... just as hot as SFV
1790 sq ft home . A/C was broke when I bought house... still is!
Swamp Cooler has been running overtime...
shut off pump at sundown or if gets cloudy or thunderstormy (hey.. I think I made up a new word..) to keep from building moisture in house.

2 window fans at opposite end of house blowing out to help cool airflow.

My bill wont be over 125... and everyone that enters the house says
"Damn it feels nice in here"

PS. Oh Yeah.. the swamp cooler will cost you less than 500 - you will save that in less than 3 months...

bjjb 07-27-2005 07:30 AM

And I was bitching about the $52 bill I got last week. Went up from $35 last month. Takes a shitload of energy to run 2 window ac's 24/7 :)

llporter 07-27-2005 07:31 AM

Turn of the a/c and open the windows

Kinda hard to do when the temp is running 90-100 every day and the heat index is always 100-110. I would fry lol

Edit - And unlike the desert or where ever - this aint no fucking dry heat :1orglaugh

theking 07-27-2005 09:16 AM

A swamp cooler will use 1/4 the amount of electricity as an AC and if it is the right size it will keep it as cool as an AC.

tungsten 07-27-2005 09:17 AM

thats alot..

BradM 07-27-2005 09:18 AM

My AC is broken. Saves money but I nearly die every day.

Pete-KT 07-27-2005 09:19 AM

Damm that sucks

One thing I love about living in the desert with it's dry heat. I have two swamp coolers (one for each floor of the house) and my last bill was only $401. That was during our heatwave in which about 20 people died from the heat.

mine used to be like that

then I had the windows on the front of my house tinted (my house faces west) and replaced both the upstairs & downstairs AC units with newer high efficiency units. The bill dropped to $250 the very next month

dirtydesignz 07-27-2005 10:06 AM

Ours was about $400 for one month , it'll be more on the next bill which in Mexico, comes every 2 months...so the next one will be well over $800 ! I grew up in Phoenix and LOVE the swamp cooler! Wish we could have one here, but living right on the ocean there is just too much humidity.

Plugin Feeds K 07-27-2005 10:08 AM

We keep our house at 72 and it's 3200 sq. ft. and my bill is around $200. We work and play from home, so it's 72 all the time. How is it so much more there?

Babagirls 07-27-2005 10:12 AM

its been hot as fuck here in Wisconsin, 100 degree days a few times this month already. i leave my windows open at night & have the cieling fans on high to bring in & circulate the cold air.

during the day, i open my blinds half way to let in light (but keep the hot sun out) so im not paying electricity for light. i also dont watch tv AND work online anymore. i choose one or the other, saves on electricity too.

i just moved into a huge apartment (3 times as big as our last one) so I cant wait to see what a central air bill is like (we had a 1 bedroom/1 bathroom small dinky apartment before & only spent, on average, $70 a month for AC)

Your home must be really well insulated and keeps the nice cool air in :) You are lucky!

Doesn't DWP bill once every two months? That's what I thought. I don't know, I never see the bill.

Rochard 07-27-2005 10:18 AM

I live in Phoenix. Last night both ac units went off at the same time for the first time in two or three months. It rained for a bit and the temps cooled down for a few hours.

Here in Phoenix our power company projects how much money you will spend on power for the year, and averages it out every month. My average bill is about $250 a month.

Furious_Male 07-27-2005 10:33 AM

Mine is up in the high 300s this past month and I live in NY. AC just sucks the juice. What can you do. Its either that or sweat and lose sleep because its to hot.

Cassie 07-27-2005 10:39 AM

i cannot wait to see this months electric bill. this heat has caused the ac to constantly run. so much so that i refuse to turn on anything else unless absolutely needed.

thank god my dogs enjoy the radio :)

Dravyk 07-27-2005 11:06 AM

As I write this it's 98 degrees in Philly. Weather.com says with humidity it only feels like 108. And ... I just ran out of smokes. Grrr.

BradM, how does your computer still work? Hell, how are you still working without AC?

wildgirl 07-27-2005 12:11 PM

that's a lot, I think its time to conserve electricity!

We do have this insulation thing, it has the Energy Saver package in it ... must actually have been worth the $1800 upgrade. ; )
