Yeah, a pedophile molests children - a 13 year old girl with a child is not a child. As the article says, the families supported the marriage and are making do with a bad situation. 50 years in jail for marrying the girl you knock up? Leave 'em alone.

Sorry, have to disagree with you here... he did commit statutory rape on a minor.. just because the family 'gave him their blessing' doesn't mean it wasn't against the law. It's like downloading music... everyone's doing it, but it's still illegal.

even if he was 19, which he isnt, its still wrong and he should be punished. shes 13, not 17 1/2. they werent highschool sweethearts. the guys been out of hs for 4 years and shes still in 7th grade. that just isnt right

Its difficult..... I was done for underage sex. He was 18 and I was 17, the legal age in the UK at the time was 21. I only got a caution and it dosnt go on my permanent record, but it is still fucked up.

yes now there are exceptions to the laws and it makes it kind of a joke in your case, but in this case its blatent statutory rape, bordering on pedophilia.

In your case the law should maybe have used wisdom and discretion before causing a stir.

My thought exactly. I also think the parents should be punished for allowing it to go on after they found out and letting them get married. They should have put a stop to it right when they found out and called the police themselves.

Difficult situation, I don't like the ramifications it is going to have on the girl because I don't believe that knowing how to spread your legs makes you an adult. If the guy was 19 and she was 13, that's a lot better in my opinion than a 22 and a 13 yr old, but its difficult to say really... I think its going to fuck up the girls life even more, if they send the guy to jail... and having a kid at her age, is going to fuck it up pretty badly. Maybe her mother got pregnant at 13 and is only 26 and never got to fully explore her own childhood & therefore never matured properly... who knows...

If I had a 13 yr old, I most certainly would not give approval for marriage.
