No baby yet for me.

Natalie and I went to the hospital today... all ready to have the baby.

They checked her out and it turns out that her cervix is very solid... that means that they can't break her water or anything.

So, from 8am to 3pm, we were there being watched and tested and checked and poked and prodded.....

They injected her with gel to soften the cervix. It has one of 3 effects... it can
a) do nothing.
b) move her system along, thus inducing labour
c) soften her cervix so that the doctor can induce the labour

So now we're home again and scheduled to be back at the hospital tomorrow morning at 8am once again.

Ugh, this is driving me nuts!!!!!!!

cool1 07-26-2005 01:30 PM

Good luck with it all Staurt

Drove me nuts when that happened to me.

Chris 07-26-2005 01:31 PM

my girl had the same problem

they told us 99% of the time the gel wont do nothing if you are at your due date and nothing is happening

Just pray in a week or so that it happens

a csection is horrid ;/

Elli 07-26-2005 01:44 PM

I wonder how many babies are actually born on their due date without being induced.

jact 07-26-2005 01:46 PM

Best of luck and much love to both of you Stu ;) You both know where to find us if you need us :)

2% - 5% from what I've read. Not many.

S'ok, we passed our due date already, was supposed to be on Monday (25th). Oh well.

JupZChris, they don't want to let her go to long because she has slightly high blood pressure and some other minor things. Plus, I don't think I could survive going through this for another week!! :Oh crap

GammaCash_Dom 07-26-2005 01:48 PM

Hopefully, it will go well for you and your wife Stuart.

sherie 07-26-2005 01:48 PM

Good luck with everything Stuart and Natalie!!

Elli 07-26-2005 01:49 PM

Well then you have nothing to worry about! Chill out, Stuart. :) Go paint the nursery or something. I'm totally excited for you, though! Woohoo!

She's deathly afraid of a c-section... she does not want to have to go that route. I know it's a possibility, but she would do anything to avoid having to go under the knife.

We'll see what happens I guess. :(

Doctor Dre 07-26-2005 02:06 PM

I hope everythign goes smooth for you there ... Must be giving you major headaches ... ;)

It's really not as bad as I expected..I guess the main advantage is that by the time you feel any pain, you already have your baby to focus on, and as long as you take your meds on schedule and don't try to be superwoman and only take them when you "need" them, it is really not that bad. (The first two times I waited until I needed them to take them..then it took a while to kick in, and the third time I took them every six hours, whether I was hurting or not, and I did great..I had Faith at 8am, on the dot, and twelve hours later I was cleaning my hospital room, lol.) I had epidurals my first two times and a spinal the last and I much prefer the spinal, which surprised me.

My first baby was double footling breech...my second I could have had vaginally, but I was scared I'd go into labor and wind up with a c-section anyway, and not be recovered in time for a wedding I was supposed to be in, so I chose another c-section. Bad move, because my third baby was transverse, so I went in to labor two weeks before she was born, but because there was no pressure from the baby's weight on the cervix, I wasn't dialating. Two weeks of contractions that did nothing, and I accepted that the baby wasn't going to shift position or be a vag birth, so I had another c-section, lol.

Ok, enough about me..if it turns out that you do need a c-section, and she wants to talk to someone who's been there several times, she can hit me up any time. :) And I'll keep you all in my prayers that it doesn't turn out that way. :thumbsup

Kassidy 07-26-2005 02:30 PM

I hope everything goes well for you both! It's a very exciting and stressful time but it's all worth it in the end.

I was deathly afraid of a c-section during my first pregnancy as well, but due to a small pelvis and pumpkin-headed babies, I ended up having 3 of them. They're really not as bad as they make it out to be in your childbirth classes. The people who teach those things really preach the natural delivery, no drugs bs. No matter how your baby ends up coming out, it's gonna hurt and it's gonna be ugly. When it comes to that point, you just want it OUT and you don't care how it happens, lol.

flirty 07-26-2005 02:38 PM

that saddens me stuart, but let's hope for the best.
wish you best of luck. :)

Trixxxia 07-26-2005 02:45 PM

Stuart only a few more hours and you'll get your bundle of joy :) Waiting isn't bad - just hope that she doesn't have to push too long. All the best for a quick and easy delivery!!

NoCarrier 07-26-2005 02:50 PM

Don't worry. Enjoy your last nights of sleep for the next couple of months. :1orglaugh

Go watch a movie with your wife/girlfriend tonight and relax. (This is the last time. After that, you'll need a babysitter).

Eventually, he/she will come out.

And please post some pictures of your baby. Even if some dumbasses think it's not *ethical*. Fuck them. We are supposed to celebrate life. :thumbsup

nikad 07-26-2005 03:00 PM

Best of luck to you both, hope the baby comes naturally and soon, but above everything healthy :) Enjoy your last pregnant minutes!!!!!!!!
nik :thumbsup

I had to have an emergency c-section almost 7 months ago...6 days in the hospital, they induced the labor...slowly and I pushed for 1 1/2 hrs! Baby's head was big 13 inches, I'm pretty small, he got stuck, they tried everything!

I was freaking, but not in pain! They rushed me to OR and started cutting, and I freaked again (I could feel the knife cut) they put me under, made my man leave! :(

Bottom line, it was no biggie at all, so please tell your wife...not to stress at all, they will do anything and everything to make sure baby is fine.

It wasn't the easiest delivery, but baby is happy, healthy and know wieghts 22 pounds, LOL! He is a big boy!

Looking back...I would do it all over, baby was in danger...I would have even taken the knife cut with the pain! He is so worth it!

Good Luck, don't stress...this is a time to relax!
Please keep us informed!

XOXO

C-sections are the best ... I've never done normal labor, but I think I'd take a c-section any day. Planned and very easy.

Good luck Stuart and if it doesn't come naturally, she may rather like the c-section better.

tranza 07-26-2005 03:38 PM

Just hang in there a little more bro...

I'm sure you'll have a beautifull healthy baby in a few days...

Good luck!!

;)

digifan 07-26-2005 03:57 PM

Good luck to you and a healthy baby :)

Raven 07-26-2005 04:04 PM

It'll be okay, Stuart....it feels like it takes forever.....and I guess I'm one of the lucky ones to have delivered on my due date, no induction....

Natalie will be fine...enjoy the last of the next 21 years with no sleep. Trust me. You'll need it. :)

Even 'C' sections aren't what they used to be. I can understand her fear; but, truly, they are not the horror everyone thinks they are......although not always the desired way to go....they are a means to a happy ending.

Vitasoy 07-26-2005 05:30 PM

Hang in there... all this will be worth it, once the baby arrives to the new world :)

tristan_D 07-26-2005 06:02 PM

I hope everything will be okay for you guys.

baddog 07-26-2005 06:04 PM

a watched pot never boils

I helped one friend induce labor by going for a ride on the back of my hardtail H-D.

You might try that.

naugthygUrL 07-27-2005 01:51 AM
