Anybody know emodels.com??
A friend of mine (pretty boy floyd) was scouted as a model in California the other day, he had to pay 500$ to get listed there, but has not heard from them since. That is about 4-6 weeks ago.
Does any of you know if this is one big scam? There were some threads online about it, but they also have great ppl that have worked for/with them. Lensman? You're from the area and know ppl, you know if they are any good? |
they run an ad in the newpapers here in ohio
i know acouple girls that have gone to them just take some pics and upload them to the site then your supposed to get yourself noticed hmmm sound scammy to me |
model scouting is one of the oldest scams in the book...
if they really believe your the next big thing would'nt they jump at the chance to sponsor you, pay for your pictures and help you find work? not to mention that fat commission check they'd get when your on the cover of GQ. Here's your solution... Tell your friend to get one of his "not-so-good-looking" buds to go down there and try to become a model... If they tell him they're gonna make him the next Fabio and all he needs to pay is $500, well then you know you've got a scam on your hands... |

Okay, thnxx. Pretty good answers:)
However, he has been doing some modelling here in the Netherlands, he flies all over the world cause he is a steward on KLM. He was thinking of a chargeback on his CC, I thought I'd ask some of the guys here before he decides to do that. If they are legit chargebacks suck, you all know that. Thnxx again. I'll tell him to go write Visa :thumbsup |
Naughty, unfortunately if a person wants to be a model they have to pay for portfolio pictures. There are so many wannabes in California that agents have taken to charging for their services first (much like publishing). However, a real scout hot for your friend would do free test shoots for his/her bosses before continuing.
Now, if your friend likes the idea of being paid for appearances and wants to break into the game cheap then a stint as an extra is an excellent way to start. CENEX Non-Union Extras is where most locals get their start. I was with them for nearly a year before I decided to concentrate on my academic career. I had more than a few job matches but school always got in the way. And, no, I'm not pretty - extra work is based on your size and gender. |

He just happened to be there on a flight and they saw him on the beach or something ... (He is one of those guys you see in the Amsterdam Busstop Posters, for various companies) |
If this guy is into modelling, he should have known to steer clear of this so called scout. He isn't a scout.. he's a salesman. If he was told it would cost $500 to get listed, then got listed, then he got what he paid for. If he was told that more would happen, but hasn't, then he got screwed.
Real model scouts don't ask for money, nor do agents that want to represent a model. |
I guess nobody here has heard of http://www.onemodelplace.com
It's free, and tons of models and photographers are listed there. I know for a fact that the major model agencies watch new listings especially for opportunities at new models. It seems they recently moved to a faster server. Anyway, when I want to help a model, I'll list her there. For example, here's one for my latest discovery. You Vegasites will be particularly interested (BTW, be patient: it's a slow server but well worth it if you are looking for models): http://www.onemodelplace.com/model_list.cfm?ID=9576 |
