Do a search for Asics....I swear by them.....At one time i was all about Saucony and New Balance, but after getting the proper pair of Asics i will never go back..... just look at the ratings... http://www.competitiverunner.com/road.html i am wearing a pair of Asics GT2090's right now which are last years GT2100..

I run Marathons all the way down to 5k races. I cannot sing the praises of these kicks http://www.locorunning.com/ They're very well made shoes and not assembled by third world factories employing people that couldn't afford a pair of the laces.

They're not expensive either.

pornmonger 07-26-2005 09:15 AM

forget about NIKE's.

Get New Balance 991.

Ultimate shoe for running. I have had a pair for the last 5 years. Before I was an Airmax fan.

I just bought some Nike Free running shoes. I love light weight shoes and hate socks and these shoes rock. Depending on how much you weigh these could be good for you. www.nikefree.com

I've been rocking the Asics Kayanos and loving them.

- Running or jogging?
- What type of surface you going to be doing this on? (rock top or concrete, grass, or trail)
- Average distance per run/jog? A short 1-5KM, 6-15 or longer?
- How often will you be running? (Once a day, twice a day, once a week, every other day ...)
- Most important, what type of foot do you have? minor overpronator or severe?

Me, I have multiple pairs, which I rotate. I have a wide foot (somewhat limited) with very strong ankle support (requires less 'structure') and I have:
For trail, I use a pair of ACG and they are fabulous! (Nike's hi-performance line)
- Asics GEL Kayano XI (my best pair, so I reserve these for long hauls!)
- Asics GEL GT 2100 (very good, yet cheap)
- Saucony 3D GRID Regulate (an awesome shoe)
IMHO: Nike (not ACG) makes shitty running shoes! I have two pairs, which are crap! Narrow foot, poor arch support and I can tell they simply will not last - the bedding is already uneven with little to no KM on em ... they ride like a SunFire and I now only use them to take the garbage out.

I am waiting for a pair of AdiStar Controls to come in so I can test em out. I feel these might be my new favs.

I believe the best thing to do is go to your local running/tech shop, try out a full range and buy what feels best.
The great thing is, with the new materials and such; running shoes no longer require a break-in period.
Just GO!

had bought a pair of nike running shoes recently, it's light weight & very feminine.
very comfy for running, but my feet are just so wide i easily my feet are swollen.
but i still love it, it secures my feet perfectly.

Elli 07-26-2005 10:14 AM

I've been wearing my New Balance ones for two years now and I still love them to bits! The arch is just perfect, they're light and springy, and the treads are great. hmm can't tell you what style they are, because it's worn off the inside of the shoe. But it starts with an "s".

I just got a new pair of shoes... Mike AIR Max - but before that, I wore New Balance for 2 straight years (and i ran a lot in 'em) and they still weren't even falling a part, i just thought it was time to get some new shoes.

New balances last a long ass time.

New Balance 991 or Asics Gel Kayano. Don't skimp when it comes to running shoes.
