Hell froze over today!
 

For years I have lamented that there is only conservative talk on the 2 talk radio stations I can pick up. I can choose between Boortz or sports, midday it's between Rush and Dr. Laura and afternoons it's Shaun Hannity head to head with Bill O'Reilly. The only really enjoyable show is from 4-7, The Food Show with the incredibly informative and entertaining host (Tom Fitzmorris).

So I hop in my car just a little while ago to run to the store and hear a bit of the end of Tom's show. When I got back to the car the hourly top-of-the-hour 5 minute news they always run was on. Coming out of the news there was a parody poking at Karl Rove. I'm thinking WTF?

It took me hearing less than half a sentence out of the mouth of the female voice that followed to realize OMG, Randi Rhodes!!!

That's right, my little armpit of the Bible belt was being showered with one of the most brilliant minds in talk radio ever! I got home and immediately went to WSMB's website to make sure someone hadn't flipped the wrong switch on the satellite feed and found that they dumped all of their old schedule except Tom (who is a very popular local favorite) and replaced it with the Air America lineup. Jerry Springer, Al Franken (Oy Vey, big deal :upsidedow), Randi, Janeane... they're all there. They delay Randi's show so they can leave Tom in his 4-7 "dinner hours" slot. Somebody pinch me. No, I take that back, don't... I LOVE this dream! :1orglaugh

Wow a whopping 67 radio stations across America. Damn they are worse off than I thought hahaha.

I got xm radio last year and now the broadcast in my area on am. Great stuff.

Pretty good coverage of the country on those 67 stations (+XM). The station I now get them on covers parts of 3 states. :thumbsup
I can guarantee you if Air America went bust tomorrow, Randi would end up syndicated on many more stations than she was on before she got the national exposure through this venture.
