My ass is numb but the ride was great...(PICS)
The first LA motorcycle ride was a great time.
Some of the best riders came out and we cruised 200 miles or so through Ojai valley and played tree tag most of the day. I rode with Baddog-and took pics at same time. Note to self: When riding with Baddog, hang on with both frigging hands LOL :1orglaugh Also in group.., CEJohn, Gary from LatinCash formerly CyberageGary and his posse as well. Here's a few pics :thumbsup Gary and group: http://www.fubarwebmasters.com/current/bike/z0176.jpg me and the bad...dog: http://www.fubarwebmasters.com/current/bike/z0128.jpg love this pic, check out rearview mirror: http://www.fubarwebmasters.com/current/bike/z0087.jpg http://www.fubarwebmasters.com/current/bike/z0063.jpg http://www.fubarwebmasters.com/current/bike/z0167.jpg and one more for the road... http://www.fubarwebmasters.com/current/bike/z0156.jpg all pics can be found here: http://www.fubarwebmasters.com/current/bike/bike1.htm I look forward to the next one, will organize it soon. Keeping the shiny side up! :thumbsup . |

but don't any webmasters ride sportbikes? cruisin' down a straight road on a hog---shit you might as well be in a minivan. :2 cents: |
|

Trust me, we were not on straight roads a good portion of the time. Switchbacks and hairpin turns that will cause you to bottom out at 10 MPH. Unfortunately, Lori was probably more concerned with staying on, than taking pictures at that point though. :1orglaugh |

Speaking for myself, that is by law, not choice |
One time I got hit on my bike by a large uhaul truck. I was stopped at a traffic light and the truck hit me at 45mph.
My helmet was busted, my head was not. Whatever hit my helmet, cut thru the hard fiberglass shell and thru most of the styrofoam padding underneath. I'd hate to think of the outcome if I hadnt been wearing my helmet that night. Most people say they dont like helmets because if they wreck on the hiways its not going to matter. That may or may not be true, I dont know. But most accidents happen under 50mph at intersections, and a helmet in that situation is a definate lifesaver most of the time. And, you can come to a complete stop, put your foot down in oil, gravel or sand, fall over on your bike, hit your head and die. Wearing a helmet is just a smart thing to do. |

Tell me something. If wearing a helmet is such a smart thing to do, why is it illegal for me to wear one while driving a car? I think we will have to agree to disagree. |
Quote:
But I believe the discussion was pertaining to motorcycles. If I had my way, anything that distracts a driver from doing the driving, would be illegal. Too many people get killed because of other fuckers not paying attention. |

and im not saying that you should have to wear a helmet.... all im saying is you get in a wreck on a motorcycle and there will be more damage to your body than if you were in a closed car with a seatbelt on. Not saying you must wear seatbelts either, it's just a wise idea. Helmets and seatbelts save lives, bottom line.

Actually, no. Bottom line there are more fatalities per million miles ridden since the implementation of helmet laws. This is easily verified if you want to do a little research. Another fact, there are more head injuries in cars and showers than there are on motorcycles, helmet or not. So, if helmets were really a good thing, you would think that the option to wear helmets in cars would be available. It isn't. I don't know how old you are, or if you remember, but back in the day CHP used to wear helmets in their cars. Why do you think they stopped? Here is another interesting tidbit. If you dropped your DOT approved helmet from your kitchen table, it would ruin the membrane enough that manufacturers recommend replacing it. So, given that fact, just how effective do you think a helmet is going to be in a wreck? Another little fact. People say, "if I did not have my helmet on, my skull would have cracked." Guess what the first thing is a surgeon does in case of severe head trauma. Yep, crack the skull to relieve pressure of fluids on the brain. |
i wana go riding now!
|
If I was on your roof waiting to drop a brick on your head, would you rather be wearing a helmet or not?
Its better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. |

I am not going to spend a lot of time on this simply because whether you guys want to believe it or not is up to you, and if you really care, you can look this stuff up yourself. NHTSA found that the average inpatient charge for a helmeted motorcyclist receiving a brain injury was $26,985, compared to $26,805 for an unhelmeted motorcyclist. NHTSA also found that the average inpatient charge for a helmeted motorcyclist not receiving a brain injury was $12,736, compared to $11,730 for an unhelmeted motorcyclist. http://www.easyrider.com/peeman.gif http://www.easyrider.com/_graphics/helmett.gif |
