The first LA motorcycle ride was a great time.

Some of the best riders came out and we cruised 200 miles or so through Ojai valley and played tree tag most of the day.

I rode with Baddog-and took pics at same time. Note to self: When riding with Baddog, hang on with both frigging hands LOL

Trust me, we were not on straight roads a good portion of the time. Switchbacks and hairpin turns that will cause you to bottom out at 10 MPH.

Unfortunately, Lori was probably more concerned with staying on, than taking pictures at that point though.

One time I got hit on my bike by a large uhaul truck. I was stopped at a traffic light and the truck hit me at 45mph.

My helmet was busted, my head was not. Whatever hit my helmet, cut thru the hard fiberglass shell and thru most of the styrofoam padding underneath.

I'd hate to think of the outcome if I hadnt been wearing my helmet that night.

Most people say they dont like helmets because if they wreck on the hiways its not going to matter. That may or may not be true, I dont know.

But most accidents happen under 50mph at intersections, and a helmet in that situation is a definate lifesaver most of the time. And, you can come to a complete stop, put your foot down in oil, gravel or sand, fall over on your bike, hit your head and die. Wearing a helmet is just a smart thing to do.

Yeah go figure, you cant wear a helmet in a car, but you can use a cellphone, smoke, fuck with the radio and do countless other things to take your attention away from driving.

But I believe the discussion was pertaining to motorcycles.

If I had my way, anything that distracts a driver from doing the driving, would be illegal. Too many people get killed because of other fuckers not paying attention.

and im not saying that you should have to wear a helmet.... all im saying is you get in a wreck on a motorcycle and there will be more damage to your body than if you were in a closed car with a seatbelt on. Not saying you must wear seatbelts either, it's just a wise idea. Helmets and seatbelts save lives, bottom line.

Actually, no. Bottom line there are more fatalities per million miles ridden since the implementation of helmet laws. This is easily verified if you want to do a little research.

Another fact, there are more head injuries in cars and showers than there are on motorcycles, helmet or not.

I am not going to spend a lot of time on this simply because whether you guys want to believe it or not is up to you, and if you really care, you can look this stuff up yourself.
