NYC/MTA subway system's new measures violate basic rights and invite racial or religious profiling.

As annoying as that is, it's nothing compared to things enshrined in the USA PATRIOT act. For instance, section 213, where the criminal code is amended in such a way that cops, based on 'reasonable cause', can enter and search your premises without informing you, more commonly known as a 'Sneak and Peak'. You don't have to be a suspected terrorist to get this treatment... nono, your everyday John or Jane Doe gets this treatment, regardless of the alleged crime being investigated.

The 4th amendment is being legislated into nonexistance. It's nearly at the point now where there's no reasonable expectations of protection from it, de facto.

The best thing about the constitution is that it was done in pencil.
