I still can't imagine why people use AdSense?
Some explain.

50 clicks = $1.25 and I bet that's about normal.
Tell me that the over the long haul clicks to a sponsor (mainstream, anything!) won't pay out better?

If I have a visitor to my site I either want him buying my product/service (If I offer one) or one of my sponsors. Those 50 clicks IMO are potentially lost sales. You can argue "well if he clicked the AdSense link he wasn't going to buy from me", but that's not true - perhaps the ad lured him away?

Anyhow, I'd love to hear some reasons people have for using AdSense.

I guess most people use it because it's simple. They don't have to look aby further.
Adsense does pay out pretty good for some keywords though. It's the trick finding the good ones ;)

You dont want adsense competing with your product for sure. The best places to use adsense would be on sites prepared just for using adsense. Information, articles etc. Blogs are good examples.

If you have a product site, maybe use it on pages within the site that dont let it compete.

I use adsense on mainstream sites that arent really selling anything. And depending on the content of your site clicks can pay alot or as low as 2 cents. Ive seen some ads pay $10/click myself, and have heard rumors of others paying much more. Content of your site is what makes the difference here of you getting 2 cents or much more per click.

Waste of time.

You can even lose money on the Google Adsense search boxes.

The newbies here have no clue what they're talking about... The OP is talking about this: https://www.google.com/adsense/ws-overview

I make about $1.50 per click and that's nothing. But ok.

It's with adsense. Their pay is fine, you have to figure they split advertisers payouts with you. What are they gonna sell on a humor site?

Now think about that. Someone made an ad so good that it led that surfer away from your site. So how crappy was you sales pitch on your site to begin with?

I guess you don't see the big picture. You don't have to put adsense on site where are are actully trying to sell ANYTHING. Say I make a webpage or blog about DOGS. Ok WTF kind of DOG sponsors are out there? Fuck it, just put up some Adsense ads and make $$$ off that traffic. Gee how many THINGS are there in the world to make webpages or blogs about? A BILLION? How many pages or blogs can you crank out in day? 25, 50, 100 more? Even if each one get a few hits do the math.

Well I am using it on my mainstream sites because its so simple and I make sites just to get something out of adsense. Simply put some text content on site and integrate adsense into that content and sit back and watch.
And 50 clicks=1.25$ is not normal at all. On my free image hosting site its like 30-40 cents per click average.
On sites with hosting related content you can get like 1$ per click average and its easier than to start own hosting company (at least for me).
Now, maybe I could earn more if I put aff link from hosting companies on my hosting related sites and get paid % of sales but I am happy with adsense. :upsidedow
Altough I can understand why would some hosting company put adsense on their site if that is what are you aiming at

reynold 07-25-2005 12:10 AM

I hear there are electronic books sold over the web giving away tutorials and details on how you can earn from Google Adsense and Google Search.

AdPatron 07-25-2005 12:12 AM

I sell PPC. See sig.

pocketkangaroo 07-25-2005 12:25 AM

Adsense can make you a lot of money if done right. You don't put it on sites you are looking to sell stuff on. You put it on information sites.
