Is Schwarzenegger going to jail?

Heard some rumors that he might get thrown out of the governor's office

something about getting paid to write in a magasine, is illegal when he is a governor

wedouglas 07-24-2005 03:23 AM

assmunk 07-24-2005 03:28 AM

Linkster 07-24-2005 05:16 AM

He is just cutting ties to a few companies he was getting revenue from for old bodybuilding stuff - the disclosure process in California is kinda broken and therefore he didnt really break any laws

he will be fine

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 07-24-2005 05:26 AM

Arnold will get his kickbacks after he leaves government or through some other shell channel. He's rich but he's still greedy.

Barefootsies 07-24-2005 07:48 AM

Nothing will happen. If there is any truth to it, he will divest from whatever it is/was. End of story.

Politicians don't go to jail, they are forced to retire with pay, pension and benefits.

CheneyRumsfeld 07-24-2005 08:00 AM

you will go to jail long before Arnold will.

fusionx 07-24-2005 08:04 AM

He's a well-liked republican governor who is married to a Kennedy. I don't think he'll ever go to prison - for anything.

The Ghost 07-24-2005 08:24 AM

No chance he's going to jail, ever. He would have to kill someone on the six o'clock news for that to happen, and even that would be doubtful.

llporter 07-24-2005 08:25 AM

He gave teh money back - end of story!

Gotta ammend the constitution for that !

I think it's rather stupid to make him stop doing a job he's been doing.

I read somewhere he'll continue writing for these magazines but will simply do it for free now.

You dont have to be well liked by the public if you have friends in high places. I think thats what fusion was implying.

Rochard 07-24-2005 10:36 AM

I've books about most of the presidents and I've discovered no matter what they lead different lives from birth. They all go to the best schools, and all start working for government offices while they are in college. For example, I've never met a current or former President. Clinton met Kennedy when he was in office.

All of these guys are rich and have social contacts a mile wide. It's impossible for them to get into office without having a conflict of interest. Arnold made his money by starting out in body building, and now he's in a position where he might be required to pass laws about the industry. It's impossilbe to avoid.

California Democrats may finally have a charismatic voice to counter Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger ? Los Angeles' new mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa.

Hollywood stars live or die by "Q ratings," which rank their name recognition and likability among the public. In politics, these rankings are called "job approval ratings." Lately, Schwarzenegger's have been tanking. A June Field poll showed his approval rating at 31%, down from 54% in February.

Outch ... that's a major drop for him...

But politics have a lot of ups and downs...

mardigras 07-24-2005 04:33 PM

There is no law that says he can't write for a magazine as governor (or act in movies for that matter). The only point of contention was the performance enhancing suppliments advertised in the magazines when he has legislation involving them crossing his desk.

tristan_D 07-24-2005 04:44 PM

I don't think they'll get him.

Spunky 07-24-2005 06:39 PM

Arnie is untouchable..nothing will happen

aico 07-24-2005 06:40 PM

He was getting 1% of of advertising Revenue for Muscle Fitness and one other Joe Weider mag. He fully disclosed this BEFORE he became Govenator. People felt there was a conflict of interest due to the fact he voted for a bill that favored supplement companies, and most of the Ads in those magazines are Supplement ads...

Although I don't really see anything wrong with what he was doing, since he had been doing it for years, he has decided to no longer take the payments, which were estimated to be about 8 million a year...

Also I learned from this stupid story that He does not accept any pay for being Govenator, he is doing it for FREE....

So basically he gave up 8 mil a year and works for free... sounds like a pretty stand up guy to me.

but people will always complain... that's just how they are.

After Shock Media 07-24-2005 06:43 PM

He will not go to jail. Though he still is a wretched pile of maggot infested baby shit and a great deal of the people who elected him have turned against him. I am pretty sure right now his approval rating is lower than Davis's was when he was recalled. The schools want his head, he appears to be taking kickbacks, and we have just begun to see power level warnings yet again in California. Just wait until there is a large heat wave and people will be wanting to march on Sacramento seeking him out like quasimodo.

JJ Gold 07-24-2005 06:48 PM

These bitches from the teachers unions need to shut their cockholes. I am tired of seeing these whining spinsters on my TV.

Schwarzenegger: Magazine Deal No Conflict

By TOM CHORNEAU
The Associated Press
Saturday, July 16, 2005; 7:24 PM

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Although Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger pulled the plug on at least $5 million in payments from fitness magazines, he said he never felt there was a conflict of interest.

Schwarzenegger was criticized last week after it was revealed he vetoed a bill regulating food supplements while taking money from glossies that profit from the industry. But in an interview with The Associated Press, he said his support for the magazines and nutritional supplements dates to his days as an aspiring bodybuilder.
