I really don't see how you can create a tax that applies only to a select industry. This has got to be un-constitutional....

I think at some point, people (adult industry) are going to realize that if they want to continue to do business in this industry, maybe the US is not the place to live......

"Called the Internet Safety and Child Protection Act of 2005, the bill also proposes new rules for Web sites to verify they do business only with adults. It would compel sites to use specialized software to verify a customer's age, subject to enforcement by the Federal Trade Commission.

An FTC spokeswoman said the commission was not aware of the proposed bills."

That might actually SAVE us some tax money... I'll have to run some numbers. A reduction in taxes for porn peddlers would be an ironic fuckup! Whats next, directly subsidizing us? Woo hoo!

I think maybe you took that the wrong way... What I was implying is that if the govt continues to target select industries, maybe people would be more inclined to go somewhere that doesn't constantly target that industry.

BTW, have you ever lived in a foreign country? There are a lot of other "great countries" on earth....

It's not a tax on porn site owners. It's a sales tax on surfers. Instead of charging $30, you'd have to try and get $37.50 from them with the new porn sales tax figured in.

I figured THAT out a couple of years ago! As an American, I hate to travel to the US now. It's not that they treat others like shit. They treat EVERYONE like shit, who enters. I got one Customs Agent fired for being an asshole. If I won't take that shit from others, I sure as hell won't take it from my own people!

If you live in the 'greatest country on earth' you don't have to worry about this, it only applies to those inside the US.

Being that the US Supreme Court decides what is constitutional and what is not...please name a few things that the US has been doing that is unconstitutional...if you can or will.

Well - since this is the same story that was posted a few days ago multiple times - here's the real answer - if they do approve a tax - they have just made the biz legitimate and can no longer try to shut all the sites down - and no lawmaker in his right mind is gonna vote internet porn legitimate.
Second - the CDA has been already shot down by the Supreme Court many times - which this is just a re-hash of - wont work this time either.
Third - These types of bills get introduced every session of congress and get shot down every session - so dont give it any more than its worth - which is nothing

It is unconstitutional to tax protected speech.

In our system of government the Supreme Court has always been the determiner of what is within the Constitution and what is not. This has been determined by the Supreme Court to be within the constitution...thus it does not equal being unconstitutional.
