Anyone use Bacquacil in their pool here?

Just wondering how often you need to shock the water - seems that I'm having to do it every two weeks??? Thinking it might just be due to the amount of rain this year but interested in other peoples experiences with it.

What filtration system you got there?

Using a standard sand filter system with backwashes

During the summer months we have to shock the pool weekly, we're in Memphis and the temps get really hot. Between water evaporation, and rain there's constanly new water going in and with all the activity of folks swimming etc, it's once a week. We leave the pool open all year since we don't have to worry about freezing temps, but nothing other than a few occassional chlorine tabs goes in during that time. We have a 32000 gallon pool, with direct sunlight and no shade, so that's what is required for our pool this time of year.

yeah - Im only 150 miles south of you - and the rain and evaporation does cause quite a problem - mines right around 31000 and it just seems sometimes like the algae wants to move in quick in these temps :) guess Ill try going to every week and see if that keeps the brushing down

Good luck, hit me up if you got any questions. We've learned over the years and I'm happy to say we've been algae free for 2 years now. Paid a service the second year and had as many problems as doing it ourselves the first year. My wife and I then went to a poolschool offered by one of are local pool and spa shops and as silly as it sounds, was where we learned everything. I guess because it was offered by professionals from the area, the info we were getting on the internet etc, wasn't helping much. The pool store is a chain, kinda big here in the south. If you have a Watson's definitely check it out. The school is a few hours, free and if you attend you get a lifetime 10% discount on anything you buy from them and you'll learn everything you need to know for your particular area.

I have a saltwater pool. No chemicals in it whatsoever. It's in full sun 365 days a year. Crystal clear and no problems.

not sure how much it costs to convert to a saltwater system, but it's worth every penny. The water is soft, clean, and clear... no more chemicals so less expense and you don't come out with red eyes and smelling like chlorine. Just need to add salt every so often, but 100lb bag is about $10 bucks.
