GFY Parents: Aw Dude, My 3 month old has her first fever!

Talk about heart breaking!! She has this really sad cry I've never heard before :[. I'm not gonna sleep a wink tonight lol. We're getting her some "Pedialite" and Baby Tylenol. Anybody have any suggestions?

At this age i'd take no risk and see a doctor.

What temperature has she got?

if in doubt take her in!

PixeLs 07-21-2005 07:33 PM

Just make sure to keep monitoring his temperature.

3piece chicken Dinner 07-21-2005 07:37 PM

monitor the temp, be cautious but don't freak if you see a crazy number like 104 or 105 newborns get high temps. call your ped after you take her temp and follow the dr's instructions.

It's awful for sure, you feel helpless as a parent it is no fun for anyone.

keep her well hydrated, they dehydrate easy when they have a fever.

sniperwolf 07-21-2005 07:52 PM

always consult a Doctor when it comes to babies...your most precious
you can't go wrong there...

An yeah.. Doctor Dre,, I think it's tempra.. I used to take that when I was a kid...damn I still remember that...

always..check her 24 hrs..she would sweat and you don't want her to dry up with those wet clothings

If she has 104 temp or higher you need to get her to a doctor. Fevers can be pretty serious with newborns. My wife and I just had twins, they are just three weeks old. I feel your pain, it really sucks to see them miserable. :(

Nice attitude, you sound like you'd be a great dad

tristan_D 07-21-2005 08:08 PM

just bring her to a doctor to be sure than take risks and be sorry later.

We've already spoken to her doctor and so far things are looking alright. It's just a sad situation :[

You're such a useless piece of shit.

Our daughter is four months old, so I can sympathize. So far she's had a few colds with minor fevers but nothing serious. You shouldn't worry about anything less than 101F, unless she's screaming constantly or lethargic. Keep a close eye on her wet diaper count for dehydration. Try a little water (1-2 ouces a day is ok), but otherwise stick to the breast or formula. Ride out the storm. Have you had to deal with the 3 month shots yet? That's bad (they get 4 shots in their thigh). Ugh ...

Of course I'm not a doc, and we also ran to the clinic with our daughter's first cold just to be safe.
