is this illegal or not?
if you have a website and then post articles from other websites on a daily basis is it illegal? Like if you provide a link to the site and give credit?
|
Isn't this what 99% of all blogs do?

Go watch "Epic". LOL, I think "GOOGLEZON" plans on doing that in 2014.
Fuck the wannabe prophet shmucks who made that film. As far as the legalities, yeah, it's probably illegal to post copywritten material on your personal website. |
LoL - Go aks your atty fucktard - of course it is if it is their original writing and you do not have permission - of course I am not an atty and this is not legal advise
|
Obviously it is, if no one gave you permission to re-distribute their work

It might be safe to say that this thread is bananas.

It is absolutely positively a copyright violation, period, no ifs ands or buts.
but...it is accepted practice at least in this biz that if you link back to the source nobody cares.....because linking back has benefits.. I sometimes use things from Neal Boortz and he sometimes uses things from me...but I did ask his permission to do so and he asked mine. but bottom line, yes it is illegal |

Yes it is LEGAL..
You are only allowed to take a small part (a paragraph or so) and you need to have it in quotes, then provide the source link. Yahoo, Google, etc.. Do it all day long. |

The answer is Obvious. This thread needs a bump.
|
Need permission to do that.

I have a less obvious question. Say someone publishes an rss feed and you only use a portion of it, removing the crap you don't like (like, oh, say, a link back to their site). Where does that fall in the legal spectrum?
This is not something I plan to do, btw. |
