Just found someone stealing my content!

Wow I knew I had fans of my work, but I never expected to see an entire site built around exclusive content I shot for another client. I'm not going to say who it is, because they're definitely getting a lawsuit coming their way. Care of the client.

What's surprizing is it's a big program who's been around since the dawn of time apparently. I can't believe they'd do such a thing. Fucking pathetic! Oh and I don't see my name listed under their obviously fake 2257 notice.

What's the penalty for copyright violations on images?

This will be interesting.

Then what worth does this thread have AT ALL if you aren't really saying anything? Just go ahead and sue them and then tell us afterwards....Threads like this piss me off.

davethetruth 07-21-2005 03:14 PM

This thread is useless without names

xenigo 07-21-2005 03:16 PM

Sorry just needed to vent. I guess I'll take it up with their processor, and my client. Shit like this pisses me off!

Welcome to the club. Everyone who has anything that's worth a shit has been stolen from. Take it as a compliment, lol.

jmk 07-21-2005 03:19 PM

If the copyright is filed for the image sets then you can expect a nice chunk of change ...

but i would suggest to contact those guys first and try to find a solution that does not involve lawyers ... my :2 cents:

tranza 07-21-2005 03:28 PM

Damn, that's fucked up.

Care to name them so that I can add them to my shitlist?

It is a no win situation posting this type of stuff.
If it is an established company or someone that has been around for a good number of years, you will get hammed and become the enemy.

It will start with "it must be some kind of mistake so and so are stand up people, I am sure they will figure out what happened". Eventually it will lead to a "rouge employee, and apparently this employee is very sought after since they get hired by so many "stand up companies". Spin will continue and eventually you will get blasted for not handling it in private and start to become the villian in all this.

Yeah, when I find someone stealing I usually get really pissed, and then just don't do anything, lol

Screencaps is the first thing you should do if you even think you might eventually take this past the just bitching at them stage.

llporter 07-21-2005 07:07 PM

Welcome to the world wide web where 'loss of ownership' is just a cut and paste away
