SteveLightspeed 07-21-2005 12:30 AM

Companies should pay me NOT to buy their stock!

I killed MSFT when I bought shares in 2000

http://chart.finance.yahoo.com/c/my/m/msft

Varius 07-21-2005 12:31 AM

Hey Lars,

What online broker do you recommend for someone not in canada/united states? etrade, scottrade, etc... all seem to require massive paperwork and stuff :disgust

I've checked out firsttrade and they seem ok, and seem to accept international...but perhaps you know some others?

Gracias

cambaby 07-21-2005 12:33 AM

Lars you do your stock stuff online? If so what do you recommend?

martyVP 07-21-2005 12:36 AM

Trax 07-21-2005 01:46 AM

PersianKitty 07-21-2005 01:48 AM

the g stock was my business mistake of the year
The 50 grand I thought about investing went into another stock that has "only" made around 14%

Xenophage 07-23-2005 08:11 PM

My current holdings are still my core ones..

EEM
IWM
QQQQ
DIA
SPY

got a lot of nice LONG terms gains. I am in it for the long HAUL.. if youra trader and your in the top tax bracket you have to beat the indexes by double consistantly to just break even ! I have learned the hard way that buy and hold index etfs is the way for me to best invest and sleep well at night. I do play around here and there but its with a very small % of my portfolio.. no more than 10% in risky shots in the dark. and put stops on those so ya dont loose much if they start to go south.

Xenophage 07-28-2005 09:35 AM

Sick another fantastick couple days on the market I sure hope we can crack though 2200 onthe nas it will open wide up if we can.

howard 07-28-2005 09:45 AM

lars---if you like QQQQ check ndaq...its the baby qqqq. My stock service picked it 60 days ago..I'm in at 17.

the nasdaq seems to work the opposite of real estate. with real estate starting to take a break for the next several years qqqq and ndaq should be huge winners

trax--a little stock eduaction for you. When the market is going well as it should be for the next several years while real estate takes a break most brokerage houses and stock picking services all pick stocks within 20% of there years highs. the stocks that are below that usually will stay there.

its called momentum trading....

howard 07-28-2005 09:53 AM

my service picked FOXH last week...i got in at 39.. check it out today---up 26%--best 1 day move I have in years...

Rhesus 07-28-2005 09:54 AM

Google: ridiculous.

RedShoe 07-28-2005 10:25 AM

Mr. Lars,

Could you please look over these and tell me what you think? I value your opinion, and I have a thick skin, so please be as brutally honest as you want.

I'm currently holding:
ICF
PD
SIRI
YUM
EWW

YUM is the company that owns fast food chains in China. They own KFC and taco bell, pizza hut... and from what I hear KFC is the #1 fast food chain in china. Obesity is on the rise in China. History will repeat itself. Those Chinese will turn to fast food more and more and YUM will do well. If the Chinese haven't learned from our fast food mistakes by now, then they aren't going to learn until it's too late.

EWW is a fund from Mexico. and if there is one thing I know about Mexicans it's that when they work they work hard. At least mine do anyway. My 3 year old little girl is HEAVILY invested in this fund.

SIRI, I figured might as well get in now before Stern moves over and then be ready to dump shortly thereafter. Some guy was on here the other day saying DEFINITELY be out by June 2006.

PD, Phelps Dodge the nations largest processor of copper, and other various metals and chemicals. They are the QCOM of the 2000's

ICF realty stock.

Xenophage 07-28-2005 11:52 AM

I like YUM I like PD I like EWW I dont like SIRI I think its overvalued compared to xmsr, I would not own either, but they will prolly keep goin up. I did not like google at 85 so my opinion is not great. I am more into overall market than individual stocks. PD and YUM ar both China plays and I think china Kicks ass !! FXI is a china ETF.. EWW is good foreign is good. I am in EEM and have played EWZ a lot brazil fund it has been insaine runup due to lots of commodities like PD has. I have made big money in PD a few years back. ICF like IYR are both real estate plays. They are smoking but for how long I dont know I own some IYR ... if rates keep going up these will start to fade in my opinion so watch rates...

I sold a bit today... but just so I can pick up if we get a pullback off of nas 2200 I think we are going up for some time to come. 2500 on nas before we see 2000 again, if ever.

Rinaldo 07-28-2005 12:59 PM

this thread felt like a thrill ride... lol
