Is shawn really a girls version of the name?

I have no idea...

Paco, of Large Cash. 07-20-2005 07:08 PM

Uh, the proper spelling is whatever was designated to the unit, so all are correct.

(However, Sean is the same as Shane -- how does one get the AW sound from ea ?

Maybe Shaun is a Euro thing?

baddog 07-20-2005 09:03 PM

Sean is Irish version . . . maybe that will help

$$$ 07-20-2005 09:04 PM

Shaun 5 33.33%
Sean 5 33.33%
Shawn 5 33.33%

So far it's a tie, so I guess all spellings are the 'right way'.

GatorB 07-20-2005 09:10 PM

They are all correct. It a preference thing. My sons middle name is Nathanial even though the "correct" way is Nathaniel, because I liked it that way.

PixeLs 07-20-2005 10:23 PM

OK, I'll go for Shaun. For the meantime, while the movie is being shaun.

Sosa 07-20-2005 10:28 PM

I seen Sean a few times, but around here most people spell it Shawn.

Sean
Gender: Masculine

History:
Sean, the Irish Gaelic form of Jean, the French form of John, was created in Ireland following the Norman occupation of the 13th and 14th centuries. Sean, while always popular in Ireland, spread to the rest of the English-speaking world in the 1950s.
Please see John for more information.
