Massive Shark Caught Off Vineyard
 

It wasn't too little, but it was too late.

Fishermen who hauled in a massive 1,100 pound tiger shark off Massachusetts this past weekend failed to capture first place in the monster shark derby on Martha's Vineyard.

The reason: The boat was six minutes too late in returning to Oak Bluffs harbor with its catch.

The toothy tiger shark may not have won the competition, but it did win the admiration of other fishermen. Steven James of the Boston Big Game Fishing Club said this truly was a monster shark, and one that "could eat you."

exactly, it is a shame, i was watching a show on discovery not to long ago and they said that sharks are slowly becoming smaller and smaller. (not 100% sure if they were talking about tiger sharks)

but obviously there are only a few tiger sharks with that amount of mass, kinda is sad that a beast like that has to be killed for a competition, i mean it must have gone through tons to surive. :( :( poor sharky (and i am not against hunting/fishing for the record)

That Mako was cut into steaks, jaws kept for souvenirs and the rest turned into fertilizer, what a senseless waste of a beautiful apex predator :mad:
