Desktops Are Dropping...Laptops Demolishing Them..
Geez, the prices on desktops are droppin' like a rock. Laptops are kicking their asses 6 ways to Sunday.
Stores are like giving away desktops as incentives to buy other products? Parts are cheap and you can't give a desktop away anymore. It's freaking amazing! |
I simply love it. I have no use for a laptop, and I welcome the beatdown. Simply means more for me, at a cheaper price.
My bag has just gotten bigger! |
i still use my desktop a lot though
|
I love my powerbook, I can see why laptops are starting to take over now that they have good screens.
|
I agree, I use laptops 90% of the time now. Used to be 90% desktop a lil over a year over
|
I hate laptops.. I barely ever use mine. On trips I'd rather not use it at all
|
Well the laptops nowadays are very powerful. I have a new Toshiba that is a mobile television and radio and movie/video editing and producing monster.
It's a bit heavy but power packed no end. I can watch live tv on it too. Fits right in my backpack. With the RAM and processors powerful enough you don't need a desktop anymore. Yet I'm gonna stock up on desktop parts and build my own to customization. |
Until laptop batteries last a good 8-12hrs + I don't want to invest in one of them. Simply isn't worth the hassle.

I find both useful. I use my laptop for e-mail and web surfing and stuff and as a addtional pc for video editing when I am at home as well as a main pc while I am on the road. But I usuallly use my desktop for video editing, and DVD authoring and other proocessor intensive functions.

Dell had a desktop for $300 including monitor! :thumbsup
|
I work on a laptop but shit, I'm in the same spot 99% of the time. Plus some desktop towers are getting so small that they can hook on the back of the flat screen monitor..Hell, I can keep the box and pack that shit up and put it in the trunk anytime I decide to travel. I wouldn't be able to whip it out in the airport but so what?
|
and they'll keep droping, the more they make... the more the price drops.

You can't beat a deal like that! |
That's great except I have never found a way to use a desktop while on the shitter.

for work, its 100% desktop. unless i have to travel. |
I traded my desktop for a laptop 2 years ago and don't regret it at all. I love being able to roam around and work, not being confined to one location. I probably will buy a desktop later this summer though, for the extra power when doing photo/video work. It would be nice.

I'll wait til the prices go down and I'll buy more of it.
|
I just got a HP zd8000 and this thing is a work horse. I can see how one could make the change.
|
I have a nice HP laptop that I got about a year ago, works great but I still spend 90% of my time on the desktop machine. I'm lookin to get a powerbook tho and am betting I spend a bit more laptop time with that.
|
the drop in desktop prices is great. i remember way back when my dad paid almost $2500 for a top of line 486 (hey, it was top of the line then) ;)
now, i can build a top of line computer for like $1200. it's insane. of course, back then there was no Tiger Direct either :glugglug |
Ever since I bought my Vaio, I have not spent more than 1 hour on my desktop :1orglaugh
|
Laptops prices are still high right now, aren't they?
|
Until laptops change the keyboard designs to be ergonomic, I just don't see buying one. I bought one of those keyboards for my desktop and I simply can't use a standard keyboard now it sucks.....does anyone know of a company selling laptops with these types of keyboards?
|
i want to have a new Dell Laptop.
