Police left hours ago and still can't sleep....
Had a break-in and some idot(s) stole well over the $k range. Don't want to list items in case it would have an effect on the police action??
Entrance was through the glass in the back door. We have sensor lights up, not sure of exact time. Lights don't do much good in broad daylight. Police spent several hours with finger print dusting etc. Next we get to give finger prints to eliminate us on what they collected.. Not happy about that, but needed. Whoever cut them-self and left blood on the wall and carpet which we have to leave for evidence for now. What was taken was more than just dollar value! Had sentimental value that can't be replaced. Not sure that either one of us will be able to sleep tonight --- going on 4:00 am here. Word for GFYers is take a second look at security where you live. Plus I just needed to vent somewhere. Police went through the whole house. In this case, their job... But a nervous experience for a webmaster.... |
I hear you. Got the same thing last year and couldn't sleep well for several days thinking they would come back. Was only feeling better when we place locks everywhere ...
Damn burglars ... |

Yep, we been talkin alarms, steel doors, cameras, guns, the whole bit.. Guess we need to chill a bit and them decide what to do. |
Good luck on the recovery. I had my apartment robbed by my ex-wifes drug dealer (he even spray painted TAXED on the walls) because she owed him money. Even with that blatent evidense they wouldn't bust him... Fuckers...

A good point, but we like the freedom of living without a pet. Also would not like our home borken into. FYI, they let you clean up after finger print dusting... Don't mind given all that happened. There was more than one officer and it seemed like all that could talk about was rules on what they could and couldn't do to preserve evidence for court. We're not the first in the area and they seem to be narrowing in. |
tsk. tsk.. sorry to hear about that.. but i experienced that already.. and it sucks..took sometime to replace what was lost..

thank you for sharing your experience. just be careful next time.

Get a quality alarm system!
I had the same shit happen to me, the worst part was they stole $10,000 in car audio (I pulled it all out of my car because I was selling it, and had it temporarily in the basement) The fucking insurance company wouldn't cover it because it was "portable audio". |

http://www.store.yahoo.com/safetybud...est8pafrs.html Temporary $6.00 solution without having to walk it and feed it or pay a recurring monthly charge. I'm sure there's better stickers out there, just look around. |
that's something traumatic, hope the investigation will turn out fine

Sorry about the stolen stuff - the good think is that noone got hurt though. |
It's true, put up some security signs in your yard, and stickers on your windows. Even if you dont have such security, it's a HUGE deterrent! Radio shack used to sell window stickers.
The police really recommended weapons and training? yikes... |
