I quit smoking

Yesterday.

Its not so bad. At first I wanted to tear the eyeballs out of kittens but I am feeling much better now.

Will I have a worse attitude as time goes on?

xclusive 07-19-2005 09:14 PM

good for you man it's the best thing you can do for your health I hope that you keep it up.

Abyss_Vee 07-19-2005 09:17 PM

best thing to do is,, lock yourself up in a room for 5 weeks... with only water and bread.. the nocotine cravings will be gone after the 5 weeks

LiveDose 07-19-2005 09:22 PM

That's awesome man. I quit about 6 years ago. Best decision ever...

Actually, the nicotine cravings will be gone in a week. The rest is just residual habit from an oral fixation. Nicotine gets out of your system pretty quick (hence why people smoke so often) and the cravings subside pretty quickly. However, the actual "HABIT" of smoking is what is tough to beat.

At least that's how I've always seen it. And yes, it will get worse. Much worse. Two days ain't shit. 2 years, now you're talking.

Thomas1007 07-19-2005 09:30 PM

congrats. I quit cold turkey January 30th.
took a week to get rid of the cravings, then you have to deal with lifestyle changes. ( IE: smoking after dinner, or when you go out for a drink )
Exercise is also important, I have alot more energy now.
Took me about a month to get used to not smoking, but its all good now.
Best of Luck to you.
:) :thumbsup

1 entry found for oral fixation.
Main Entry: oral fixation
Part of Speech: noun
Definition: a desire to have or put something in one's mouth, as in infants; a condition requiring stimulation of the mouth
Etymology: coined by Sigmund Freud

Just because Freud coined the term doesn't mean it has to do with a penis. Or does it? :Oh crap

tristan_D 07-19-2005 10:46 PM

Awesome man!! I did too, was off for about 5 or 6 months then got the visit from Ice. started smoking when I was drinking and now I am back to nothing.. Give it 3 months and you will wornder why you ever smoked in the first place.

P.S.
Besides while drinking, or after sex.

$$$ 07-20-2005 12:49 AM

I've quit cigarettes for over a month about 5 times since my addiction. The first 3 days are the hardest. I call it the 3 day hump. Once you're past that, you won't be a threat to society ;)

i quit smoking cigarettes cold turkey 1997

i STILL get cravings.

it never really goes away.

once a smoker, always a smoker - the battle is never picking up a cig again.

i havent smoked on in a very, very long time.

even though the smell is disgusting to me, every once in awhile i can still get a craving.

from 2 packs of menthols a day, to zero.

you can do it too.

evelknievel 07-20-2005 08:50 AM

No one likes a quitter......

nojob 07-20-2005 08:51 AM

Yeah, I quit 5 years ago. I also get cravings after winter and sometimes during the summer. It's more "thinking about a cigarette" than the usual craving.
