Not Diabetes but I have Hypoglycemia, and it sucks big time

Sarah_Jayne 07-19-2005 11:42 AM

I will one day. My sister and myself are the only two people in our extended family not to have either type 2 or hypoglycemia. I am already on metformin because they doctors think it might stop if rom developing.

First thank you people for all responses, I wass offline few days and now I logged to gfy :).

Well, I have diabetes 18.5 years, now I'm 20 ... so It's not too sad, I got used to it because I don't know for anything else....

Prob I have is sugar control, healthy eating , healthy life etc.....because I'm 20, I'm working as newbie adultwebmaster running some thumb tgp's :) and I like to party on weekends :) .... and you all know how it's stupid when you can't drink a beer or two :).

Few months ago I realized that there is some software for calculating all aspects of diabetes..like data analyzer with graphs and all.... yu input sugar levels, what you eat, how much insulin etc etc....

I thought maybe someone here knows more and can tell me which software to buy...or at least try a trial :). Also I need some links how to GET weight because I have 180cm and 60kg at the moment....and I need to get at least 10kg....

Maybe someone of you know where to get latest info about diabetes products like glucose meters and insulin pumps?

Thnx and please answer here so maybe other people will get usefull info also....

for U who wait for diabetes II to get it, do some excersise and eat just a little bit less....and you probably won't get it..... it's simple... at the moment your body is getting too much insulin and you just need to balance eating/mass and excersise...

Thnx again to everyone and sorry for bad english....

WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO INCREASE CALORIES?

eat larger than usual meals

include extra snacks throughout the day or before bed

eat higher calorie foods

include high-calorie beverages in your daily intake

The following foods can help you boost your calorie intake:

Grains: Choose heavy, thick-sliced breads, such as whole wheat, pumpernickel, and cracked wheat. Dense cereals such as grape nuts, granola, and raisin bran are higher calorie choices than lighter flaked or puffed cereals. Top with nuts, sunflower seeds or dried fruit.
Fruit: Bananas, pineapples, raisins, dates, and other dried fruits are higher calorie choices than grapefruit, strawberries or other "watery" fruits. Including fruit juices in your diet can also increase your calories.
Milk: To boost calories, add instant breakfast or 1/4 cup powdered milk to 1 cup of low-fat milk. Cheese and yogurt can also be good sources of calories.
Vegetables: Peas, corn, carrots, winter squash, and baked potatoes are higher calorie vegetables. Eat a variety of vegetables, however, for adequate nutrition.
Snacks: Healthful snacks include yogurt, cheese and crackers, peanuts, bagels, sandwiches, instant breakfast drinks, bran muffins and dried fruit.
