"Full-steam ahead" is certainly exhilirating, but the consequences of collision at high speed are exponentially increased. For having piloted a craft or two at irresponsibly rapid rates, at times in "races" in the company of other boats, I've seen some spectacular disintegrations on the Seas. Funny thing is, I'd say they were all preventable, and unnecessary in the extreme -- but for the one disconsolate, unsung necessity that tragedy and death serve well -- providing an example of what NOT to do for those who watch.

But experience, potentially, inflates itself, and arrogance sets in, there too. It is the feeling of invulnerability that whispers doom, and makes the "tactile" driver toe his brakes and squint his eyes for signs of solid things afloat in fog, ahead.

I tried to help a friend tonight, a captain in his own right, to appreciate the satisfaction of a moment's caution well-applied. But, slowing down is really not his trip. I fear frustration, and a sense of losing time, have taken root, and pressure on the throttle is a drug.

I hate to preach. But logic, on the other hand, is inescapable and always there. One is free to invoke it, agnostically, in support of common sense, without betrayal, feeding jealousy or taking sides. It is objective, syllogistic, and, defensibly -- the "truth".

And so, to my friend I say, take heed. Contrariance, especially the type that make us rage, becomes an instrument of friendliness, when one is speeding towards a cliff -- :)

Translation: Aaron was right, I am dying to know what went on tonight because I still feel left out.

Believe what you want to believe, idiot. This could have been a nice thread. 2HP started it in a funny and elegant manner. When I returned home and caught it, I saw that the thread was close to hitting the second page with only two responses, so I chose to help bump it by making a post (I appreciate good writing and consider Jack a friend and a kindred spirit, although we have never met in person).

Despite what you seem obsessed with saying, my night neither rested upon attending the dinner nor on what transpired at the function. I was simply trying to bump an articulate thread of a friend.

For whatever reason, you chose to be an asshole with me, and therefore you have diminished this thread.

I apologize to 2HP for that, and for our little exchange.

If you don't care to share what happened, then let it go. Somehow I doubt that your twisted ego can stop that from occuring, but perhaps you are a better person than you have demonstrated thus far in this thread.

I have poked fun at you a few times in the past Aaron, but it was never meant maliciously.

I think you know that you strike a raw nerve with people at times. It's a shame if you take pleasure in that. I get the impression that you are not all that bad of a person, but then you occasionally show an ugly side here on GFY and I don't know what to think.

GFY doesn't make much of an impact upon my business. I am mostly here to shoot the shit and have fun. I've actually made a few friends in the process, and hopefully not too many enemies (I don't actually consider anyone an enemy on GFY, not even you).

As I have said before, I think you have a wonderful talent as a photographer. If you focus on becoming a nicer person, then you will become an even greater success both in business and as a person.
