Any of you shoot in DVcam and not MiniDV?
I was just reading through old posts regarding cams and was curious if any of you shoot DVcam and if you can see a difference at all when you do?
Also... does it look any different when you encode it for the web? |

Funniest thing is that you can use MiniDV tapes on DVcam recorders and they will last a bit more than half of the original time so as 60 min tape would probably last around 35 - 40 if I remember well. Still they are much cheaper than DVcam tapes.

I have shot some videos in DVCam. It looks exactly the same as mini-DV footage. Especially when encoded for the web, no way possible to discern any difference. The main reasons to use DVCam is if you need to shoot a live event, unbroken without stopping to change tapes after 63 minutes and you spring for the 180 min DVCam tapes to make that happen. And of course DVCam tapes are the way I master long programs, like one of my two hour movies so that it can be converted to other formats like PAL or for bumping up to a larger format for tv broadcast.
