Do you feel useless when you are not working?

I know it bugs the shit out of me when I am not keeping busy with work.

What about you?

And yes, I know some troll will say I am useless anyway....Hate on, loser. :1orglaugh

chadglni 07-16-2005 11:04 AM

Yeah, I'm addicted. Better than crack at least.

suesheboy 07-16-2005 11:07 AM

I do.

I need a break

baddog 07-16-2005 11:08 AM

I have yet to find that out. Will let you know when it happens.

smack 07-16-2005 11:08 AM

all the time. i have been gradually make myself back off that compulsion though. couple months ago i felt lazy when i would goto sleep at night.

it also seems to be directly related with how many projects i am juggling at once. the more i have on my plate, the less i want to do anything else but finish.

Spunky 07-16-2005 11:09 AM

Drives me nuts..I can't stand to be out of work for very long

brand0n 07-16-2005 11:09 AM

fuck no. i feel at peace

flirty 07-16-2005 11:10 AM

of course...i feel unproductive

but sometimes it gets going me better after a nice laid back afternoon rest.

ronaldo 07-16-2005 11:11 AM

When I'm working, I feel like a useless father.

When I'm being a father, I feel like I should be working.

It's a vicious circle but so long as everyone's happy and healthy, all's good.

Now, with the family away for the weekend, I SHOULD be working, but fuck it. I'm going to drink some beers.

I'll feel like my wife when she slept with me for the first time...guilty in the morning.

Machete_ 07-16-2005 11:13 AM

I did that a few years ago.. my work was my life.... then found that there is so much more

Shooting_Manic 07-16-2005 11:18 AM

Its a guy thing... men derive their self worth by working and finishing task and providing.

Its how we are made.

Linkster 07-16-2005 11:45 AM

I did for the first 50 years of my life - last year I decided I had had enough and I've never been happier - now I only work 15 hours a day since I retired :)

khs 07-16-2005 12:03 PM

only until I get wasted

BlackCrayon 07-16-2005 12:12 PM

as long as im making money...no.

CashLikeWhoa_Mike 07-16-2005 12:21 PM

interesting thread Aaron, and a good question. :thumbsup

I think most of us who shoot our own content and run other phases of our businesses struggle to balance work and everything and everyone else in our lives.

Especially if it is your company and you founded it, you will always be committed to the business of making it the best it can be, without regard sometimes to how many hours a day it might take to get it done. :2 cents:

Not exclusively a guy thing...

I'm a girl and working from home means I work 14-16 hour days, no shit...I barely sleep anymore, because if my kids are busy playing or sleeping or eating or whatever, I feel like I ought to be working.

WiredGuy 07-16-2005 12:25 PM

Work is what keeps me interested and motivated so if I'm not working, I do feel like I'm wasting time.

xxxice 07-16-2005 12:28 PM

LittleSassy 07-16-2005 12:29 PM

Sosa 07-16-2005 12:32 PM

CC 07-16-2005 12:37 PM

Actually, no. I just feel so lucky that the $ keeps rolling in even when I am literally doing zero work (for instance, when we're on a cruise).

ChefJeff 07-16-2005 12:43 PM

I can relax when I'm not working, for all of about 3 minutes. Then I have to go back to work.

Gio_JoinRightNow 08-12-2005 02:02 PM

Stacey_JoinRightNow 08-15-2005 01:34 AM

Yes, I really do, I feel nothing and I hate when I'm bored!

Jakke PNG 08-15-2005 01:38 AM

Useless, no..

I *always* have something to do, and I feel 'guilty' when I'm not working.
Gastric ulcer, here I come!

Maximillion 08-15-2005 01:39 AM

Whenever I do something besides work I try and gain something from what I'm doing. For example watching a movie: learning something about life. Chatting with a friend: gaining some advice.

It's part of your personal growth which will positively affect your business goals or whatever goal you may have.

PixeLs 08-15-2005 02:01 AM

Not really, but it bores me so much!

reed_4 08-15-2005 02:56 AM

I enjoy my work 'coz if this will bore me i would stop and take my break.
