Guild Wars...

Should I go buy it?

Who here plays it?

Mr Pheer 07-15-2005 04:40 PM

good questions, I've been looking at it myself

Babaganoosh 07-15-2005 04:41 PM

It's a blast. Just understand that everything outside of cities are instances. It's not like World of Warcraft no matter how many people try to compare it. I've been playing for a while and I love Guild Wars. It's cool because most of the quests are entertaining. There are not many "Collect 5 somethings and bring them to Joe Blo in Bumblefuck city."

Getting your character maxed out doesn't take nearly as much time as in other games either. The focus seems to be more on equipment and skills than who has had the most free time to play the game.

ok so i went and bought it.... just finished some War against the charrs or whatever.

cool game though.

After Ascalon is reduced to ruins the game gets a LOT better. Once you get to level 13 or 14 you won't be able to stop playing.

so what should i do ? just run around killing enemies?

pornguy 07-15-2005 08:36 PM

i got it, played for a week and got sick of the hack and slash... now that dark age of camelot has a classic server, been back to that... and its populated to all hell! weee

some of the main things i didnt like on guildwars was the places to get to were SOOO far away... and the fact that its MMO only in the cities kinda sucks... if you lose a member cuz a crash or a disconnect, you have to meet them back at the city, so on and so forth. The only good thing I liked were the graphics and the no monthly fee!

Looks like a kewl game. I just worry about any game that requires blood sample, and life's devotion to level (like EQ).

:Oh crap

You should be able to talk to some of the NPCs and get quests that will lead you to other areas which contain more NPCs that you can get quests and skills from.

naitirps 07-15-2005 08:39 PM

oh, and the /dance moves rock :)

Alky 07-15-2005 08:39 PM

and where can other players attack me at? off the paths or outside cities or what?

Guild Wars was meant for the more casual gamer. It doesn't take nearly as much time to max out your character as something like WoW would. The max level is 20 in GW.

They can't unless you're in an arena. Anything outside of a city is instanced. You won't see other players outside of town unless you're in a group.

Alky 07-15-2005 08:41 PM

ah okay cool :)

exactly.... to put it into perspective for others, the time it took me to get lvl 11 in gw, took me to lvl 5 in daoc... (and max is 50 there)... i always want to kill myself when i hit lvl 48... shit gets so frustrating at the progress.
