Hotel sold out for internext...

Okay so the hotel is sold out for Internext. I guess they have suites left, but that is a bit pricey for me.
Is anyone else room-less for this?
Is there a nearby hotel that would be close enough?

There's a Holiday Inn about a 5 minute walk north and reasonable rates - though I can't vouch for the quality!

I stayed at the HI a couple of years ago and it was awful, IMO.

Get on the waiting list for the Westin. People are always canceling at the last minute.

ronaldo 07-14-2005 12:43 PM

Definitely put your name on the waiting list Buddy if you really want to stay there.

Have a backup place to stay JUST in case, but I'll almost guarantee some rooms will open up.

Seriously I agree with you 100% but there are people there that I would like to see and won't get a chance to see again for a while, so I pretty much have no choice.

Aly, are you around?
I'd like to go, I just need some advice about where to stay. I'd rather not depend on a waiting list and risk showing up with no room....

Fair enough, I figured most people will be spending very little time in their hotel anyway (if not staying at the Westin), but if I'm sure there's other spots nearby much better!

hmmm I am in the same boat. I remembered to buy the ticket a couple of weeks back, just forgot to get the room.

Alky 07-14-2005 01:14 PM

I am in the same boat. It is getting to be outragious in price, but I don't really have a choice. The only chance to see so many in one place at one time.

you should maybe post a new thread here asking if anyone is going to cancel their westin diplomat room to contact you first or post it on the board. if they contact you first before canceling outright they might be able to get the hotel to directly transfer their reservation over to your name :2 cents:

I am not impressed with the people at the Westin although it's my fault. My story goes like this.. I called in April to reserve my room and didn't know when Internext was so that's my fault. They should of known though right? So they book my room for August 3rd to the 5th. It is a suite. So then I find out after taking the time to look when the real date was in June. I called and they told me they were booked solid for those extra days but after telling them my story they put me on the waiting list. Two days later the manager calls and tells me he apologizes for the mixup and reserves my room for the extra 3 days. The point of my story, just get on the waiting list. Its like a timeshare everyone cancels last minute. You'll get something don't worry.

I stayed in that Holiday Inn last year when the Westin sold out. It sucks balls. But it's good enough to pass out in.
There's another hotel across the street and just to the South of the Westin that seemed decent, and had a really good (and cheap) cuban restaurant at it's base. I can't remember the name of it though. It's closer to the Westin than the Holiday Inn.

nojob 07-15-2005 06:35 AM

bumpp. before I just call Amex Travel.

Trax 07-15-2005 06:38 AM

if you'd be a hot chick you could have stayed in my room ;)

i stayed there too - not exactly wonderful, but after 15 beer that doesn't matter anyway. what sucked the most was that after walking the 500 yards to the westin i needed a new shirt cause the other was soaking wet :disgust

I dont understand why people wait till the last minute and then complain that the place is sold out, why dont you book your reservations in advance so you know your good to go

RawAlex 07-15-2005 08:22 AM

This year I actually have a room reserved ahead of time (strange that I do that). All the other times at this facility, I have been on the waiting list, and usually about 7 days before the phone rings and the rooms get booked.

Remember, August 1st is the cancel date or you have to pay the full amount, so many rooms come up between now and then. Companies overbook a few rooms in case some other people are going, and then they do a recount and cancel what they don't need.

1000 rooms, I guess that means 1998 sausages and 2 others... at least that is what some people would suggest.

Thanks Capt. Obvious.
I didn't complain about the place being sold out, I asked for advice about what to do now that it is sold out. Thanks for the really awesome advice. I'll see what I can do about booking those reservations in advance from now on.
