A tip of the hat to LA City and LA County Fire
I have to say, I am quite impressed with their actions today.
You may (or may not) have heard that we had a pretty good brush fire up in Rancho Palos Verdes late this afternoon. That area is canyons, brush, and multi-million dollar homes. Being on a peninsula, there are very unpredictable winds. We have not had a bad fire there in many years, so it was ripe with fire danger. I drove over to the fire area a while ago, and was a little concerned because it was windy as hell up there. I went to the edge of one of the canyons, fully expecting to see it glowing if not blazing. I was amazed to see just a couple hot spots, but nothing that could be considered a danger. I talked to one of the battalion chiefs and learned that no structures had been lost, and there were no injuries (that he was aware of). So, I just want to say thanks to them, and job well done. :thumbsup |
Yep saw it on the news, they did a great job and saved all those homes.

after last year, they are really on it this year. thumbs up.

I think today proved that it pays to be very strict about enforcing the laws re: brush and its closeness to structures. |
