The 19-month-old toddler who died during a gunfire exchange between police and her father was killed by a single police bullet to the head, the Los Angeles County coroner said Wednesday.

The report said it came from a Los Angeles Police Department officer's rifle.

The girl's father, Jose Raul Pena, died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds, the coroner said.

Fucking idiots, the suspect was holding the baby girl as a HUMAN SHIELD, he also tried to kill her HIMSELF. He fired over 40 rounds at the police, what were they suppose to do just take it??? I think it's funny that anyone could even remotely fault these officers... the motherfucker SHOT a cop in the shoulder (could have EASILY been his head or heart), he was still shooting at police and they shot at him, a MOVING, erratic target. 1 cop wasn't PERFECT in his aim, the poor little girl died.

As tragic as it is, COPS are NOT perfect. They tried their best. Sometimes hostages die. It's a fact. It happens. It appauls me that the family and some of you idiots can say the police had any fault in this.

I would venture to say that even if the GUY did not SHOOT A COP, just shot AT COPS, they would be EQUALLY as RIGHT to shoot how and when they did.

There is a nutcase running at you with a gun, he has already shot one police officer, and he is still firing shots.

Now, what do you do? Do you wait for a police sniper to come or do you shoot him? Well, since you think The Shield is real, you would probably wait around for a sniper and not shoot while this guy lays waste to every cop there.

I don't think the cops acted in the best way in this situation. The death of that girl surely could have been avoided. This was not a some shootout that lasted 5 minutes. Cops arrived at the scene shortly before 4 pm and the article on CNN says they were killed at about 6.30 pm.

Now, i'm no police expert, but i'm am pretty sure the LAPD could muster up a police sniper within 2.5 hours. What do you think? Hell, the girl might have died anyways even with a sniper, but in a situation like this, every precaution should be taken to prevent the loss of an innocent life.

It's not like shots were constantly being fired for that 2.5 hour period. Surely they had enough time during the phone call to put a sniper into a reasonable position to take this guy out.

Beyond that... Beanbag rounds, tranquilizers.. Fuck, anything is better than 11 cops firing 90 rounds with a toddler in the line of fire.

I don't see how anyone can think that the LAPD handled this situation well.
