Anyone know how the debt consolidation industry works?
 

Does anyone have some info on how they operate, like business model and how much they make per client, etc..?

The best bet would be going through your bank..better intrest rates

They operate on the premise that if you are dumb enough to get into debt they can probably string you along and milk you dry.

They work by consolidating your bills into 'easy' payments so that when you can't make those easy payments they negotiate, not only are you behind on those but now you owe the debt consolidation company as well.

Debt consolidation is a tough row to hoe unless you have a few whale clients and deals with bankruptcy attorneys.
