woo hoo, i was excused from jury duty lol
i posted about a month ago (http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showth...ight=jury+duty) that i got a summons to be a juror for 3 days.
anyways, i took some advice from a GFY'er, Luc, that posted in that thread. so i wrote a letter to courts asking to be excused and wouldnt ya know it, they actually excused me :winkwink: so thanks Luc!! :thumbsup BTW, in case anyone else wants to get out of jury duty, this is what i wrote them: To Whom It May Concern: I am asking to be excused from Jury Duty for the following dates: [insert date 1] [insert date 1] [insert date 1] I run my own business from home and as the only employee of my business, I am subjecting myself to a large sum of lost income, if I were to leave it unmanaged for such amount of time. Thank You [signiture here] :thumbsup |
Great. You scam your way out of civic duty, then have the nerve to bitch about how the government does things. :thumbsup

I'm very surprised they excused you..They really don't care if you're a CEO of a large corporation..I guess it was your lucky day

Damn I just serve and do what I figure is my part. I never want to really be there but I never think of trying to get out of it. Last thing I would ever want for this country is where the only people on a jury are those that want to be there.
Shit gets going do to court rulings in former cases. Yeah odds are the case you will get as a person will just be another typical case, but still why let it go to chance. Make a deference and serve. |
People want democratic justice... the opportunity to be judged by a group of your peers...
then they back out of jury duty. Spot the irony. |

also, part of the letter (i didnt post) also said, in short, that it was on the same day that I was moving from one residence to another. maybe it was a combination of both that got me excused. |
Jury duty sounds fun to me!!
I'd be like THEY'RE INNOCENT!! And hang the jury cause I can't imagine sending anyone to jail... unless it was murder and guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and/or harms a child. |

The moving thing was probably the thing that got you out of it. I'm not saying I know your situation or anything like that. I am just tired of people backing out of jury duty for no good reason, just because they can't be bothered. The system only works if everyone chips in their part now and then. Something about those who don't stand up to fight for their freedoms are bound to lose them. |
