NEF and Batch Processing

Does anyone have any clues about batch processing and NEF files?

Specifically getting the white balance and proper colors for NEF files that have varying lighting conditions. We've got images shot outdoors that have different levels of light and I was hoping there's some way I might be able to automatch white balance and color levels in NEF..

(bump)

No one knows anything about raw files and batch processing? Shit.

Ok, one last bump.

No one knows anything about working with RAW files?

If you have varying lighting conditions you really need to separate the NEF files by lighting conditions before you apply batch settings. That's at least what I do with Nikon Capture Editor.

Once you have the shots separated into similar groups you can adjust white balance settings, color temp, and tone mode to make suitable jpgs then save those settings and batch that whole lot.

Rinse repeat on the others.

Yeah, that's what we currently do, but it's such a pain in the ass.. I was hoping there was some way to batch it if we were shooting NEF.. :-/

If you're shooting raw NEF you should be editting each picture one by one... Batch processing a RAW file, specifically, from what I've dealt with, with all my car shoots, is that each picture is different.

Since the EV, Contrast, Shadow, Brightness, Saturation hasn't been written to the file yet, it's a tough call.

UNLESS you're consistent with your shooting.

I've used Nikon Capture, Capture One Pro, and CS, I found that CS works best for me when editting the files together. If I need to batch process, I'll use Capture.
