You have to talk to terrorists
I know that this is very un-american, but a new play opened recently in London, and Toronto's Globe and Mail published a review in today's edition.
Review Talking to Terrorists ends on a chilling note, and one that has particular resonance this week. "How can you judge me unless you have lived the life I have lived?" asks the former head of the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade. "Do you want me to think logically like you, my British friends . . . you, who gave my country to the Israeli . . . and you who are behind all the trouble in Ireland . . . all the trouble in South Africa . . . all the trouble in India? What do you know of hopelessness and despair?" |
Yes and of course blowing yourself or other people up is going to make things better for you.

For certain people in countries like Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. their despair is only resolved by the salvation brought by a "holy act" - destroy the infidel and you will achieve immortality in the afterlife. |

"If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb i" Sun Tsu
