I am going to buy a new gun today, what should I get?

My wife wants a new pistol, I want a Mossberg...I think we might end up getting a 9mm though, just cause she looks hot with a pistol in her hand

any suggestions? she mentioned getting a glock, which I am cool with...but I know there are a few gun people on here...what are some nice 9mm out now? I am looking at $300-500 range

bringer 07-12-2005 05:34 AM

I seriously doubt that is in the $300-500 range

GonZo 07-12-2005 06:03 AM

Wooo Hooo JAce does this mean the meth head paid you that $40 he owes you?

TheWylders 07-12-2005 06:04 AM

I agree with the Glock suggestion. I've got several pistols, bought the Glock for Liv because it was small and she could handle it well....turned out to be one of my favorites. The Glock26 (mini glock) is the one we've got. It's a 9mm and is great for small hands, or you can get a grip extension if you've got a bigger hand. Glock23 is a great firearm too!

Nydahl 07-12-2005 06:07 AM

any glock or Heckler-Koch (not sure about spelling)

SixNine 07-12-2005 06:09 AM

This compact 9mm is my daily packer:
http://www.kahr.com/pistols_PM9094.html

High end and very sick. I've also got the full frame Ruger in my sig (It's big as fuck).

I would get a very good hiding place for it if the democrats successfully fillabuster and get a liberal on the court.

Those liberal justices dont seem to care much for the part of the constitution that deals with private rights such as property ownership and owning firearms.

Good chance they wont pay you for it when they outlaw it.

I have a S & W 357 magnum. I sent it back to Smith and had it magna ported. It shoots really nice. As a woman I prefer a revolver. Not sure why, maybe because it's pretty ; )

... interestingly enough, if the conservative justices stood up for states' rights in the medical marijuana case, any federal bans on weapons could be challenged on constitutional grounds. however, due to their decision, the definition of what 'affects interstate commerce' has been expanded so much that it is now virtually boundless. good luck.

I have a few handguns, for that price range, I suggest one gun. The Springfiled Armory X90 series. Best bang for the buck. I have their smallest frame handgun (3 inch barrel), in the .40 caliber. It's the one in the middle.

Jace,

If it helps any, Serge and I had a bet at the gun range, a buck a point at 30 feet.

After I won, he fired the Springfield x90 and came within 2 points of my high score.

He went back into the store and bought one.

Rinaldo 07-12-2005 07:41 AM

Springfield is great But I also like the Sig in 9mm and the Beretta 92, both in 9... why? because you can plink all day long and not feel it in the wallet like you will with a larger caliber.

beretta 92 is a little higher priced though, but it's all steel which I prefer to the composite feeling

My fave is the Sig, I own one, the pistol on the left. I have the P229.

But it's not in the price range of 300 to 500 Jace is looking for.

I stand corrected and you're right, I called Ace's here in south florida and they have 2 used at 450 each. But new they're priced a little higher than what Jace feels like spending.

I didn't know you were down here in SFla, I'm in Deerfield, but shoot up in Delray. Brand new the P229 cost me 800.00 with clips, laser grip, etc.

Yeah I shoot at the park for long range to keep up with my military shooting skills and I shoot indoors some nights when I need to practice my quick draw skills. I'm a fan of iron sights myself, but I'll dabble with the occasional optical aid. You hunt at all?

I got back into guns after I hurt my back lifting. Needed something to do for the 2 months of down time. I'm in the process of buying an AR15 this week. Would be interested in hunting for sure. :)

I carry a few different guns.. for handguns I rock a primary and a backup... my primary is the HK usp 40
http://remtek.com/arms/hk/civ/usp/40/usp40.gif the ammo I am using now is a heavy load a 180 grain ranger sxt made by winchester

for my ancle or "belley" piece I carry a tarus pt111 pro with the 12 round mag and I am shooting a super hotttttt ammo out of there ... a light 127 grain 9mm but it's the +p+ load so it's very hottt and it's also the ranger sxt which is the black talon from back in the day

smack 07-12-2005 08:36 AM

don't get a mossberg if you're looking for a shotgun.

Remington 870 Marine Mag is the way to go with shotty's.

as for the handgun i wouldn't get a glock. i've shot a couple of them and they really feel like a toy in my hand. if you're looking for a smaller 9mm i would suggest checking out

http://kahr.com/

they make some great guns.

If and when I carry I carry the gp100 I will never rely on an auto for self defense unless it's a last resort. http://www.aubreyturner.org/armory/pics/gp100_left.jpg

I'm open to either one. I'll try to close on the AR15 sooner, would love to pop off some rounds with it.
