Problems with Firefox

Am I the only one who has problems with firefox? Every day I have to manually kill the program cause it stops responding after it eats up 60k of memory...
Anyone else have this problem? :helpme

GweedZilla 07-12-2005 09:12 AM

every once in awhile, like once a month mine will freeze up, i think its usually while viewing embedded media, like windows media or quicktime stuff. otherwise its flawless, and right now i have 8 tabs that i'm actively using and firefox.exe is usin ... wow.. ok a shit ton of ram lol. I have zero problems with the system acting flaky or slow tho on an a64 3500+ 1 gig ram system. AH well :)

Ace-wtf 07-12-2005 09:16 AM

loving the fox

works like a charm and ain't even sweating

Barefootsies 07-12-2005 09:46 AM

Happens now and again. Maybe once in 30 days if that. Normally close it out, and see there are other things effecting not it, but cpu. realsched and so on. So I close out, and disable that kinda bullshit, and then restart. Normally fine again.

Never had any problems with Fire Fox

kektex 07-12-2005 09:51 AM

I love firefox but after seeing how much RAM it`s hogging I switched to Opera and haven`t looked back.
It may not be free but it`s stable, light and has excellent features that it had for ages before any other browser , like tabbed browsing, session saving and mouse gestures.I used the ad supported version and it`s very probable I`ll be paying for the full version soon.
Give it a try.

pxxx 07-12-2005 09:54 AM

I don't have any problem with firefox.

MacDaddyPlaya 07-12-2005 09:56 AM

Firefox was eating up my system resources so I switched back to I.E.

After Firefox would run for a while it would end up using up 99% of my system resources. I had upgraded to the latest version, but it still persisted.

I switched back to I.E. and use the msn toolbar to get the tabbed functionality of Firefox.

koreanbbque 07-12-2005 10:02 AM

i only get problems with firefox on linux. for some reason, firefox doesn't like some flash ad banners and it just goes bonkers and crashes and quits. doesn't happen on my windows box tho.

for IE tabbed browsers... try

avant browser or crazy browser.

simple simon 07-12-2005 10:07 AM

FF will end up using 150k or more after a few days, locks up and so forth

flirty 07-12-2005 10:17 AM

nothing really serious here... working just fine :)

sickkittens 07-12-2005 10:18 AM

It does suck up RAM and I still have problems w/ video and certain web sites fucking up w/ it. I'll still use it, though.

kektex 07-12-2005 10:19 AM

Actually the only thing I miss from FF is the Flash click to play extension. It replaces every flash animation with a Play button so I dont have to see any more annoying flash crap.
