Who can type 120 words per minute?
 

What's the secret to typing so damn fast??? Most I can get is 45 :(

I can type 80WPM but I will have a lot of spelling errors and such

Yeah I can do it with tons of typos but I try to get 90% accuracy. It's amazing how fast some people are able to type. My fingers can't even move that fast :helpme

everything depends how long is the world am I typing...
for example for this post I needed about 10sec :)

Then you cant type 80WPM.

I can max out at 110 but it would be very difficult.

I can do 120 if I try, my usual typing is probably around the 80 to 90 area when I'm just typing away.

To enter my college course back in 96, I had to type 75wpm as a prerequisite. These days I'm much faster.

As for the secret? Practice. Learn to type anything without looking at the keyboard, learn how to do things properly (such as not crossing your fingers, keys on the left for the left hand, keys on the right for the right hand) and most importantly, don't rush it. Just type at the speed you are comfortable with. You'll just naturally get faster as you go. When you rush it and "try to be faster", you just end up having to hit that back space key a lot to fix up your errors :winkwink:

I can do bout 100 a min if I try extra hard. Usual typing speed is like 70-80
Might be able to do 120/min in MS Word cause I have a lot of shortcuts like: ppl = people sd=should wd=would....

Im sure Juicy can do over 200 lol

Last time I tested I was 90 per minute with 95% accuracy. I just do it, can't explain it.

I always do the same with the typing error i always hit that back space key and i think it's bad because it reduces the typing speed also I sometimes change the sentence while typing it all slows down the process, owh wel :)

Best I was clocked was 115wpm... I generally don't have anything to type though so I don't get a lot of practice.

its easier to type what you're thinking, than to type what you're reading off some paper.

Back in college, I did temp agency jobs. You had to be able to type 110 wpm with 3 mistakes in order to get the temp secretary job. They paid anywhere from $10-15 per hour. That's how I paid for college. :thumbsup

I can get 100wpm, 120 on a good day.

Been using a QWERTY keyboard regularly for 20+ years now... everything is just natural now I guess. No need to look at the KB for anything other than special keys/punctuation now... I want to type something, my hands just type it. It's like when you've been playing guitar for years; eventually, when you get familar enough with it, your hands will just make the chord you're thinking about, or play the next note in the solo effortlessly and without requiring concentration on finger placement except for extraordinary notes or techniques.

FWIW, I can type considerably faster when I'm typing what I want to type, basically stream of consciousness direct to the page, rather than transcription. I can routinely blow away the speeds from that typing test page if I'm typing something from memory. When I'm really motoring I can more or less subvocalize at the same speed I can type. :thumbsup

One of these days I'll give Dvorak a try. Maybe get to 150+ and see whether my fingertips will actually burst into flames. :feels-hot

damn im slow.. only 40wpm.. thou i dont look at my keys at all, and never do type fast, Im sure I could type 80wpm if it was just me typing what i wanted to say. typing shit i see and cant spell takes me forever.

I bet I could do atleast 120 now ;)

The test showed 80-85 but I can type faster than 120 if I'm thinking what I want to write.

71 wpm on typing test. i use to be able to do 90........ guess im getting old

I can. Last time I had to take a typing test, it was 143 words a minute, and had 2 typos. To be fair, you had two trial's before you did the official timed test. As for being able to type that fast....

I'd guess being a computer a minimum of 8 hours plus a day for some 2 decades would prolly do it. :winkwink:
