Vegas Restaurants

So we are going to Vegas this weekend and while I use to live there, I'm still in search of a very nice restaurant to eat at. The last time we were there I had to pass cause of morning sickness that lasted all through the day! : )

So, we've done Smith and Wollensky's, The Mix ... I'm looking for a nice place and what comes with nice in Vegas usually means pricey, which is fine.

Anyone have any suggestions? We are staying at the Wynn, so I was wondering if there is a good one there.

Sly 07-11-2005 04:13 PM

I'm sure you'll be able to find a nearby McDonald's. :-)

munki 07-11-2005 04:13 PM

It's all about FatBurger on the strip baby!!

Thanks guys ... Sly, don't make me beat you up. ; )

I watched Super Size me the other night, while I usually would never eat at McDonald's, now I really never will.

"Michael's" at the Barbary Coast is the best restaurant in Vegas.

I usually get the Chateaubriand (for 2) and eat it all by myself. :thumbsup

Lawry's on Flamingo. Incredible Prime Rib and Lobster.
Olives at Bellagio

or for more moderate prices Carrabba's on Eastern in Henderson is great Italian and Pink Taco at the Hard Rock has great atmosphere and good food (shrimp taco's are the best in town)

The Ghost 07-11-2005 04:27 PM

Alot of times Vegas can have crappy expensive restaurants. That's the pits.

Good
Luxor Steakhouse
Morton's on Flamingo & Paradise
Lawry's on Flamingo & Paraside (Prime Rib)
Nobu in the Hard Rock

Most the places in the Bellagio suck but it is nice inside. Haven't been in the Wynn yet but i'm sure there's some amazing places in there. Have fun.

Minte 07-11-2005 04:34 PM

First place that came to my mind was Olive's at Bellagio..and close behind was The Range upstairs at Harrah's

pornguy 07-11-2005 04:35 PM

Ask Davie Vegas he probably knows a few spots.

HushMoney 07-11-2005 04:43 PM

Hey Kevin,
Try Canaletti's in the Venetian, and have the lobster and spaghetti dinner, it's freakin' outta this world!!!!

Best,

touretts 07-11-2005 04:45 PM

I dare you to try Hamburger Mary's.

I stayed at the Wynn in May ... every meal we ate there sucked.

Best meals I've ever had in Vegas were at Gallagher's Steakhouse in the New York New York.... ask for Flip for your waiter.

I remember you saying that you were there ... but I never got to see any pics!

Hrm, that's disturbing about the meals for the Wynn.

The Picasso Restaurant in the Bellagio is excellent. It's won numerous awards. You can feast under an original Picasso oil painting.

Picasso Restaurant (located in the Bellagio)

The menu can be pricey, but they do have a Prix Fixe menu. If it's a special occasion, then go wild - I had an anniversary dinner with my wife there once and requested wine pairing with each course of a multi-course meal. The Sommelier (in-house wine expert) was very helpful and extremely knowledgable about the wines. Dinner for two worked out to $300+ but it was one of the most enjoyable dinners I have ever had.

Picasso is by far and away THE best restaurant in Vegas, hands down. From the decor to the wine list to the food and the service, there's not a better restaurant.

I'd put Delmonico's at the Venetian in second place, tied with Le Cirque, which is also at the Bellagio.

Nine is ok, nothing tremendous, and I skipped a trip to the Wynn to go sailboat racing so I can't comment on anything there at this point.

Kimmykim 07-11-2005 07:02 PM

The Foundation Room is really good too, I don't know how that one slipped my mind.

JetFuel 07-11-2005 07:07 PM

how about casinos? whats good?

BaldBastard 07-11-2005 07:07 PM

Picasso is very very good! For casual try Mon Ami Gabi at Paris get a seat outside, watch the fountains, still my fav early evening spot in Vegas.

Hey I wouldn't suppose you got a wiff of the lake water when you sat outside at paris?sometimes close to the lake it smells like ass.nice view but if food is involved it could be risky?

I went to the WIA cocktail party up there in January -- great location, beautiful decor -- we didn't eat a full meal so I couldn't say more than that. I also like the Brown Derby at the MGM... Alan Alberts or the Rosewood are always on the list, as is the Palm.

Oooh, Commanders Palace is fantastic too, I always forget that one as well!

je_rome 07-11-2005 07:26 PM

once you're there you'll never run out of options.. every place has a specialty..

GTS Mark 07-11-2005 07:36 PM

Check out the brazillian steak house in the Mirage. It's a great casual restaurant :)

That's The Mix, nice place, good food...although I only had desert while everyone else ate! ; )

Very cool looking place with outstanding views. It had quite a small menu which is always kinda blah.

Ruth Chris' I've always wanted to try, but they have those in many cities.

I think by the sounds of it, I should try Picasso's.

I've done the restaurants in the Venetian just because of the shows and if I never have to walk into that hotel again, I won't care. Sorry to say, but it just do anything for me, I think I'm tainted because of the mile walk to the show floor!

So funny Lee ...

Of course I'm flying, I hate to drive or be in a car longer than 2 hours. Just not for me.

I've got plenty of drugs to keep me happy though ... remember I did just go through a pregnancy. ; )

Thank you KimmyKim for mentioning Alan Albert's. I love really good aged steaks and prime rib, and Alan Albert's has both. However, if you love lobster, I mean really big lobster, then Alan Albert's kicks butt (I suggest a surf and turf combo).

Okay, the reason I didn't mention it before is that the restaurant is actually tucked away in a strip mall. Since I visit Vegas frequently on business, I am always asking about good places to check out. Well, a few of my friends (one of whom lives in Vegas) mentioned the place, and so I finally decided to drop by - and I'm sure glad I did.

Once you are inside it is like stepping into the past. The walls are adorned with black and white pictures of celebrity diners from the past. I swore I was crashing a Rat Pack hangout.

The service is great, as is the ambiance, and the food is excellent.

It's one of those places that you have to go inside to appreciate, but it's certainly worth the visit.

Here's to diamond in the rough special finds...
