is there a difference between sex and love

i wonder.

is there really a difference between sex and love

the only thing that seems to seperates them is emotion?

what the fuck is emotion anyway?

i'm trying to anazalize my life and realize that i can't get caught up in emotion - emotion can fade and respark. mechanically and socially a realtionship has to be strong in those two points for it to last. if you're emotionally involved with someone you don't respect - it won't last - if sexually you don't click - it won't last.

fuck why do i want it all?

damn i'm a greedy bastard

pxxx 07-11-2005 11:33 AM

It is good to want it all.

bluff 07-11-2005 11:34 AM

I have it all :-)

Raven 07-11-2005 11:35 AM

Because having it all is the only way.

Not greedy.

You can have sex without love and you can love without having sex.

Respect helps make a relationship last, as does friendship.

Gotta have it all.

angel_x3ws 07-11-2005 11:36 AM

Well.. here's a reading about love.. a friend of mine emailed it to me..

Does one really know what love is?

We often mistake it for a crush, an infatuation or sometimes, even for the sheer
joy in companionship. Sometimes, we think it's a feeling that we have when our
hearts continue throbbing hard when we see that special person. Or when our
knees start to shake and begin to weaken. But can anyone really define love? I
don't think so, not even the ones who think they have felt it, or those who are
feeling it, or those who hope they will feel it. Not even my philosophy teacher.
Because love is not something that you define... it's a decision.

When you feel that you love one person, how can you tell that he or she won't
feel the same way for the next person who comes along? Love is not a feeling,
it's a decision. 'Coz, when it's a feeling, it is something that floats in the
air, something you cannot touch or dare to comprehend. Love, when it's a
decision, makes it solid, makes it a commitment, makes it more lasting and more
real. You can feel that you can be in love 20 million times in a day, but when
you decide to be in love, you can only decide to be in love with one person once
in your lifetime. You commit and you hold on to that decision. And when you turn
your back on that decision, it means you were never in love in the first place.
Love should never fade. Because when it does, it means it's just an emotion.
Love will never fade because a decision, once done, is something you stand up
for and fight for-no matter what. What does "I love you" mean? Some people find
it easy to say the words but what really matter is being ready to stand up for
it when you say those words. Are you ready to face all the consequences after
saying those magical words?

If you can say "I love you" long after all the tough times, all the good times
and after all the words that come hurting you, then the meaning of those words
becomes real. Believe in those words... others are afraid to say them, but
there will come a time when one won't be afraid of
those wordscoming out of one's mouth. It's just a matter of when will
you be strong enough to fight for love.
And you can say the words "no matter what". Saying "I love you" is a
major decision in one's life.

Those words should be sacred, should be kept in your heart until you are ready
to commit, to fight for that feeling and to stand by those words. Is love a
product of destiny? No, I believe there's no such thing as destiny. Thus, if
love is a product of destiny, then you choose to love, you decide to love. Your
destiny is the path that you choose to take.

amazing words, thank you

Love is an emotion. Sex is something you do.

Doesn't seem like it would take a degree to figure that one out.

Peaches 07-11-2005 11:42 AM

Of course there is. Lots of people have sex without love and others have love without sex.

benoitlc666 07-11-2005 11:59 AM

The Beatles said "All you need is love"
I say: "All we are is love"
If I love, am at peace, respect myself, then I can enjoy, explore and enjoy sex!!!
At peace, my emotions are of pleasure... :thumbsup

Not so bad yourself...:)

Love has so many meanings and is as individually defined as spirituality..and other intangibles.

My husband is fond of saying that he gave me his heart and I wrapped it in tissue paper and I hold it ever so gently next to my own heart, which I gave to him.....and he wrapped it in tissue paper and holds it ever so gently next to his own heart.

Thing is, we like each other, whether we're throwing up or lookin' sexy.....we love each other even when we don't much like each other....

We tolerate when we get on each other's nerves because that's the way of life. We fight because we are individuals with strong wills.

We compromise; but we don't always share. There are some things that remain mine or his. We agree on the lines we draw by talking.

And we always try to talk, even if we're so angry we don't want to.

We kiss each morning and each night because you never know what the day will bring.

We are best friends and we are intimately best friends.

To me, a show of love is remembering to move dirty clothes out of my sight. To him, a show of love is me making him popcorn when the puppies are on his lap.

And, above all...we endure.

angel_x3ws 07-11-2005 12:08 PM

love is a great emotion.. it could empower you to do anything.. sometimes even the craziest of things.. but i also believe it is much better if we treat love like a decision rather than an emotion (like what the article said) to be able to make it last longer..

Tala 07-11-2005 12:08 PM

Raven and angel both said it for me.

Respect doesn't just help a relationship, it's vital.
No matter how much you disagree about things, you always have the mutual respect that will keep things within reason. If it's not there, it can and will get nasty, which will take away small parts of the respect that is left every time it happens.

Elli 07-11-2005 12:15 PM

I used to think it was too much to ask to have both in one relationship, but my current beau has proved me absolutely wrong. When I told him that us together was more than I ever could have hoped for, he just looked at me and said, "This is the way it's supposed to be." And he's right. We love each other dearly, trust each other, respect each other, and have gentless and compassion for each other and those around us. And the sex is unbelievable. Like mindblowing. The sex would be great if we didn't have such a strong relationship, but with that bond it's amazing every time.

So no, it's not too much to ask to want it all.

EroticySteve 07-11-2005 12:17 PM

I wonder if anyone says, "Make love" still. That seems very 1970's.

Digipimp 07-11-2005 12:18 PM

sex is cheaper

You're right and I should have phrased it to reflect that. Above all, there has to be respect...you can get away with not respecting an opinion; but you gotta respect the person or why bother?

Elli.....I'm happy for you...it's nice to see others have what I have been working on for ten years...and managing to keep it alive....and well...I wish it on everyone what I have with Tev.

tranza 07-11-2005 12:25 PM

It's the exact same thing for me....

baddog 07-11-2005 12:29 PM

not from where I came from.. making love is the term we use to differentiate just pure lustful sex without love.. even if it seems corny to others.. it is something that is still very big deal to us here.. especially for the females here... that is why there are still a handful of female virgins here...

badmunchkin 07-11-2005 12:43 PM

The level of respect; and whether or not you speak to the person, ever again, after all is said and done.
