We use the Canon 1Ds Mach II (16.7 megapixel) in house.

The Canon 1D Mach II (8.2 effective megapixel resolution) is a GREAT camera for the dollar. It is a true PRO camera and built to take a beating.

Canon 20D is priced right, but we killed both of ours in under a year with about 200,000 images on each body. If your not planning on shooting 100,000 plus images on the camera the 20D is the best buy for the dollar

We have both too and unless your doing High End Magazine shoots or you have the need to do ultra large blowups there is no need to spend all the money on the 1ds, the 20d will do a pefect job. Spend the extra money on the proper "L" lenses for the 20d and shoot away. Then when you want to move up to the 1ds you will have all the lenses already. We have over $15k invested in lenses plus another 7k for the 1ds body, and since the 1ds shoots 90 meg raw images you will need alot of storage for them, so it can get expensive. But its nice to have multiple cameras that the expensive lenses fit.

our 20D died after 120.000 pics - but i would still recommend it. we got it fixed for free by Canon and sold it as "nearly new" on ebay :upsidedow
