Anyone here get Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?
I had it two years ago and then I bought a natural keyboard (the one that's split in the middle), a gel wrist rest and an intellipoint mouse and it went away. Now it's starting to come back again. And now my hands are starting to hurt at my day job too.
Just looking for suggestions to try before I do some serious damage. I think the pain comes mostly from mouse work so I'd like to know if anyone knows of a good mouse to use that's easy on the hand but still precise for making graphics. |
Not really, but I do hate it when I have to carpool, and we go through a tunnel, I get syndromes from that... luckily I never do carpool:tongue:
Not quite the same though. |
spankin' yer monkey again huh?

Carpal Tunnel Release - It works, otherwise, better get a wrist brace and start wearing it at work, home, and while whacking it :)

Try a Marble Trackman FX trackball, solved my problems. Get the old style if you can find one around anymore.

stop bein' a pussyboy and grab aholt a that mouse like a MAN!

CTS is caused by swelling in the hand nerves that hafta pass through the carpel tunnel in your wrist ... the best way to get rid of it is to reduce the swelling ... use ice packs on your hands/wrists.
I use something called Tiger Balm, found at health food stores and GNC ... just a little dab on the wrist, rub it in well. Smells a little strange, but works wonders. Joe |
Got it in my left wrist years ago as well as tendinitis from practising guitar 11 hours a day, I got past the worst with hot water (put your hand in it for a good while) and with a wrist lace, at all times... it still hurts when it's rainy, but it's mild enough, the tiger balm helps too...

Well, I always say, if you can't get rid of the pain, just cut the damn thing off.

I don't have carpal tunnel from sitting here all day but I do think I am getting big ass syndrome ;)

I had the same shit all summer long and it sucked monkey balls. I got myself a M$ Natural Keybo and did an exercise the doc recommended; after approx 2 weeks it the numbness was gone. Hit me up on ICQ and I'll tell ya exactly how the exercise works (I can take some webcam shots too).

I gotta add that my problems were caused by my elbow, not the wrist.

Don't fall for it...Equinox is really an iFriends hostess...go for tha webcam deal and you're in for an expensive 45 seconds :Oh crap

I use a trackball BTW too... but this helps, go buy a really nice expensive comfy chair (it's a tax write off) and a keyboard - mouse drawer with an adjustable height, and the gel foam pads
make sure the chair has fully adjustable elbow rests Get your new chair and adjust the elbow rests so that so they hit the elbows properly Angle the keyboard up on it's back stands so it is sloped towards you now adjust the chair height, so that your elbows when resting comfortably on the rests are about the same height as the back of the keyboard = this should mean that your wrists are pretty much strait, and there are no unusual bends in your wrists If you find that your back gets sore, then you have to take the whole works and move it up or down to the correct height Lotsa fun huh? ;) |
